The Word Alone by Matt Rix

[raw]
made by Matt Rix for LD22 (COMPO)
So it's my first Ludum Dare, and I decided to make a word game for some reason.

Art made with Blender.
Music+sounds made with Ableton Live.
Coding is AS3 in FDT.

If you want to see the community posts I made during the jam, look here: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/author/mattrix/

Note: Once you get the hang of the game, try getting a move count of 8. It's possible to do it every single game if you plan it out.

I always think there can't be any more original find-a-word-from-these-letters game ideas, and then someone clever like you surprises me.

Astounding accomplishment for 48 hours, I can't even begin to imagine how this was done. Oh, hello source code.

Really enjoyed this game. Took a bit of time, but after a few tries I got it :D Graphics and Music all really look and sound great, too.

Excellent in everything, except:
The small-masks of the buttons are driving me insane. They should be all the way to the edge. BALRAGAHGAHL.

But otherwise amazing.

Great concept and it really fits the theme. My only serious critique is that it took me several confusing games to figure out how to play. Clearer directions or a play example would be nice to add if you continue development after the jam.

BlueShaman: thanks for pointing that out, small hit areas bug me too. I swear I made sure they were correct at one point, but I guess I screwed them up somehow later, heh.

Yeah, I keep coming back to it, even though I know the trick to get it in 8 moves every time. It's seriously fun and addictive.

Very creative take on the theme and very well done as well. As I am not a native English speaker sometimes I had problems finding out words, but I could manage most of the time.

Loved it! It's easy once you get the hang of it, but a very clever concept, smooth execution, and creative use of the theme.

This game is nice but a bit too short. The 3D art is beautiful, the music reminds me of Myst or something. Anyway, 11 moves. :)

This is fun as hell. You can make a KILLING with something like this for iOS/Android. DO IT!

Well done! Turning interesting concepts into games and having the end result be really fun is always awesome. This is very well polished as well, can't say any complaints really.
