Are you good at chemistry? Well, you should be, because you got NANO-SIZED! Use your NANOSHIP force fields to attract atoms, and when you're ready, activate reaction trap!

ARROW KEYS control your ship
Z pulls the atoms around you towards you
X pushes the atoms around you away
C activates reaction force field

The aim is highest score (feel free to post it in comments below)! Chemical compounds with more atoms will give you more points ! Clearing whole screen gives you +100 points!

There are 44 chemical compounds available in the game! If you don't know any, try some of the more popular ones, like oxygen - O2, ozone - O3, hydrogen - H2, water - H2O, methane - CH4, sulfuric acid - H2SO4, and so on!

Made using AS3 and FlashPunk by ChevyRay.

Chemistry...i don't remind that!
Good game,though. I like the concept :D

Great idea for a game. Made me think beyond the game. My chemistry sucks, but this can have a far reaching effect beyond ludumdare if implemented properly. I could see this being used to teach kids about chemistry in school and making it fun. You should look into that. Thanks for this game :-)

This game was... interesting... It was actually innovative and cool to have a game based on chemical bonding; that being said, the ships controls made it difficult to get decent-sized compounds and the such. (I did get ethanol though! :D)

No OH molecule, bah!

Nice game, fun little science trip.

@ratboy2713
OH would be a diatomic anion, a molecule with negative charge - and to avoid additional Coulomb-like interaction, I didn't allow those in the game. Only neutral molecules will work.

Thank you all for your comments!

Amusing game. Borderline educational, dear me.

Cool concept - wish I knew more chemicals offhand :) Would be neat to see a list of what you've made. Also maybe little sticks on the atoms to help remember the number of bonding sites on different atoms, all I could remember were C / H / O.

(side note - marudziik, left a comment for you on that Microbial game page)

Very well done, but I missed some kind of tips, like a sidebar cheat-sheet for those chemically not illustrated, like me :)

Great concepts for a game (not just for chemists)! I spent few minutes trying to get ethanol :)

I had hard time with this because chemistry isn't my forte, but it was well done! Perhaps this could be useful in education.

Nice idea to use chemistry, It would have been good to have something like a list of formulas. Fun game!

Ok...I got Water and Hydrogen Peroxyde because I got lucky. Very clever, too bad I suck at chemistry (but hey...this is a good way to learn)

Awesome!!! In every respect exept H2O wasn't accepted :( don't care though because I made Nitric Acid. Great Physics and great fun. Neat music and good graphics. Erm no constructive critisism as no critisism at all. It's already gone in my Kongregate favourites alongside MWonderputt and You Are The Road

@tripleVisionGames: H20 is definitely accepted. In fact, if you click on my postmortem, you can see an animated gif with binding a H2O molecule. :) If H2O didn't work, that must mean that another atom might have appeared in the reaction area just before the reaction. That's not really a bug, but that does happen sometimes and is pretty unfortunate.

Again, thanks all of you for the comments, they're greatly appreciated!

I'll start with this: A long comment from me means that I loved your game and I want to play more ;)

Love this. Love. I just wish I had slightly more direct control over the atoms so that I could have really gotten cooking with...I don't know, sucrose or something.

Man, I wasn't exactly a fan of chemistry but I enjoyed the game. It was very hard to "pick" the atoms I wanted though.

Damn you, when I finished with your game I realized I had learned something! How could you?!

Very well done on making something educational while still fun. A little polish and I wouldn't mind showing this to chemistry classes.

I just realised how bad I am at chemistry, yay! I was trying to make H20 with 2 oxygen atoms. -facepalm-

Nice concept and graphics. Game plays well and everything works nicely. Quite a challenge pulling and pushing the atoms, trying to get them where you want them to go. Good job.

That's probably the first time I've said chemistry is so cool !

For science! Loved it, would be cool to see the results of the reaction appear in the game as well as text.

Seems a little skimpy on the 'exotic' atoms, I ended up with only hydrogen and oxygen for the last half of my game.

Chemistry and atoms, nice game, just sometimes...

Pretty fun game but you need to know by heart a lot of reactions to really enjoy playing it. The game lacks rythm too (each game is pretty long). I would suggest a "challenge" system which give you twice the points if you succeed a specific reaction in a limited time (20sec for exemple). It would help player to learn reactions by playing and add some dynamic events to the game.
The concept is original and relevant.
The music and sounds are cool ! good work with them.
Graphics are simple but cleans.
Overall very nice entry, thanks for the game =)

@daredevildave
Yeah, balancing which atoms should appear when was pretty hard because I didn't want players to end up with only the exotic ones, without means to create oxides or acids. The best practice to get more exotic ones is to clear as much H and O as possible (roughly, the more atoms, the more H and O appear).

@Lythom
That is actually a very good idea - if I'm gonna work on post-compo version, this will probably be THE way to teach player all the compounds. Thanks!

Although the idea is good, I didn't have as much fun as I would if I knew more chemistry, I guess. Nonetheless, good game!

Most complicated thing I made was methane, didn't get more than a handful of nitrogen or carbon atoms.

Neat idea, not particularly fun though. :(

Interesting idea. I|m to bad at chemistry to be good at this game. Could be a great educational game.
The controls of the ship sometimes is a bit difficult.

Edutainment! Sad that there are no hints, I ended up trying to bind compounds which I remembered from my chemistry classes.

Neat take on the theme. It's fun! It's really cute how the elements cling together in little patterns.

Way to use your grey matter on this. SCIENCE!
