Redbeard the Borrower by jrasmussen24
Ryan and Jon of Stone Monkey Studios present this hand-crafted adventure starring the brave borrower Redbeard. Antagonize the human scum and drive them from your home.
All of the content was created by the two of us within the 72 hour competition period with one exception: a few of the icons we used were created by Lorc (links included at the bottom to the Reddit thread and OpenGameArt.org sources). Big thanks to him, and a big thanks to you for playing!
After taking some of your feedback, we have also released updated builds of the game on our website. These builds represent the game as it was meant to be played (but are officially not part of the competition-- they are meant only for personal enjoyment :P).
Fixes included in the updated versions:
-Added joystick support for Windows and Mac.
-Updated the splash screen with scripted visuals and information on the new control schemes.
-Changed the player camera!
-Human AI fixes (now the detection ray is cast from the head and he can no longer spot the character out of his buttocks).
Controls:
Move with WASD.
Run with Shift (slight speed boost)
Click on sparkling objects to perform actions with them.

As for visibility, it's just a simple raycast, unfortunately, now that I think about it, the raycast is from the origin of the human, so he's seeing out of his belly! Again, sorry about that, but hopefully at least that knowledge helps you or others!
The only con is that I could not figure out what to do most of the time!
Well... maybe except for the sounds :) "music" was nerve grating
Otherwies a job well done. I mean, this almost has the production quality of late-nineties retail games (Croc3D, anyone?), barring the slight lack of polish.
I was also annoyed by the camera... maybe a 'look forward' button like in zelda games would have helped a bit.
P.S. I'm not sure if this is something that you've already done, but changing the main camera's 'Clipping Planes->Near' setting to something smaller might help with some of the 'seeing through walls' issues.
Lots of good suggestions for the camera already, but I think for the stealth element to work you really need to be able to free look around easily. I see the challenge of making the controls work for the usable objects though.
Just It will better know who long is the human more precise.
GJ!
But still, a nice game, even if it is a bit unpolished.
Great for 72 hours!
D'oh! Am I supposed to trigger that mousetrap..?
LOL I wanna pee on the socket! Please?
Very fun game! Gives you a great idea of what it mjust feel like to be a borrower. 5/5 for Mood! The music would've been enough to drive me outta that house after a few minutes. :) The minimap was essential! It must've taken you awhile to put together such a big, rich house, even with pregenerated models. (Did you use those, or did you whip them off by hand?)
PS I've read the Borrower books, too
