Tiny World - Tiny Bits by notepid

[raw]
made by notepid for LD23 (JAM)
From team Digital Apathy.

This is our first attempt on a game, so it is short and sweet.

We have learned a lot about creating games, and we are absolutely going to join in for LD#24!

Next time we will have the engine ready so we do not have to spend a lot of time developing basic stuff, and can focus more on the game mechanics and the game it self.

It has been a very entertaining weekend, and we hope that you enjoy our contribution for what it is worth!

We have a developer blog here http://www.digital-apathy.com/ld23/index.php?blogId=1 for those of you that are interested :)

Peace and good luck to you all!

Very impressive for a first game! Loved how you could collect different body parts for different abilities. The 'sweet spot' for the platforming felt a little off - I found this page to be really helpful when designing platformers: http://mrbossdesign.blogspot.com.au/2008/10/platformer-primer.html .

Thank you for your feeback!

There are a lot of things that we know could be done a lot better, that includes level design. Thank you very much for that link, we will have a good read there :)

I liked the concept of your game =). It has some interesting good sprite art and the sound effects are also good. My only complain is that you should work a little bit more on the physics of the game, specially the jumpin/falling. Nice work!

Thank you for your feedback!

Glad you enjoyed the art work! We are very aware of the "strangeness" of the physics and that is something we are absolutely adressing before LD24.

Can't play this game because I don't have a "HiDef profile" compatible video card.

Nice art! I won't repeat what edbadiux said about the physics, but... yeah, THAT :P I would like to see more of this. Had no issues running it on Windows 7 X64.

the graphics were fairly nice and the sounds were good, but the platforming was really funky and didn't behave very well

I would try it if there was a Web or OSX version.

First of all, I love your team's name!

The concept and art are very cute. The art and sound are all well done. The layout of the levels felt like a real game. Like others have said, you really need to implement acceleration and gravity in the jumping physics.

Seem to get stuck on the second level starting tree a lot. Certainly an interesting concept.

Nice little innovative platformer. The controls and collision detection are a little lacking but I really like the basic concept of the zombie collecting his body parts. The zombie sounds were also really cool

Quite an interesting game concept. The only thing that I could really find that didn't feel right was the platforming aspect. I can see quite a lot coming from this game...

very nice entry. My only gripe is the platforming itself, but other than that it's well done and lots of fun
