Run, Unicorn, Run! by fprawn

Run, Unicorn, Run! is a dizzying endless runner.

Controls:
Fire: F
Jump: Spacebar

Developed by:
Mike Sheldon - Programming
Melissa Pohl - Art

** A Windows port is now available! **

In Run, Unicorn, Run! you play a unicorn, who may or may not be evil, fighting aliens, who may or may not be evil and also aren't really aliens, on their tiny home world. It's hard to tell who's in the wrong here, I suspect it's both of them.

We unfortunately ran out of time before we could finish the game, so it's lacking UI, sound and some gameplay features we had planned, but the existing game is fun in a simple kind of way and we hope you enjoy playing it.

Looks pretty far out! Unfortunately won't run on my Windows PC. Just decompiles itself into a bunch of seperate components.

Nice graphics. Windows guys don't know what they're missing out on.

Very polished art! Could have used some audio. Controls were good but felt a little floaty; a nicer sense of momentum when running and a bit more 'oomph' and this would feel pretty good to play.

I like how happy the aliens seem to be to see my gun-toting unicorn. Almost made me feel a little bad for shooting them!

I love this unicorn! Glad to see how your game turned out. We had some framerate issues, but our mac-mini isn't a high spec machine.

It plays very nicely apart from that. Its very clear from the beginning how to play, and the movement is intuitive.

Nice game! Really needs some audio though - some laser beam shooting noises would really help out here. The graphics are gorgeous! My first strategy was to stay as far to the right as possible, but I kept on being ganked by those little green guys. The better strategy seems to be staying as far to the left as possible without dying, so that you can get more shots in.

Sorry I can't play, I'm on Linux. Looks great, though! I'm only posting because your entry shows up when I search for Linux (for some reason) and I want to get it off my queue. :)

Thanks everyone for playing the game, the comments have been really encouraging. I'm going to have access to a windows machine tonight so I can start doing the port. The engine I used for RUR was originally made for Windows, so it should port over pretty quickly.

Please check back this weekend if you'd like to play it!

Hehe, this game has it all! Liked the bowling ball in the background :) the mechanics are cool and I enjoyed it. The control layout is a bit weird tho. I had fun!

I think it might be better if it were zoomed out a little, so you could see further ahead.

I still can't decide if it's right that the bullets bend around the world or not. :-)

The windows port didn't work for me (the world seems to be spinning out of control or something) :( too bad, I wanted to try it.

I'm really sorry it didn't work for you Fireblend. I wasn't able to repro your problem, but I'll dig through the code and try and squash that bug for you.

Had the same issue Fireblend had, its a shame though since it looked like a fun game

Great graphics! I wish there was a score or timer or something so I could have something to shoot for in later playthroughs.

Oh, this is neat. This took awhile to get going, which almost made me give up on it, but once it speeds up this actually is a really fun and fairly innovative take on the canabalt genre. Maybe clean this up for a post-compo version and give it some music?

I just want to note that this game and my game ("Breathe") are the only games in this LD48 I'm aware of to incorporate MLP-themed art :)
