Defend Tinyworld! by shieldofvalour
The City of Tinyworld has to make a run through hostile territory. The citizens (whose municipality extends roughly 50 metres) are about to be interdicted with extreme prejudice unless the lone flak tower and aerospace fighter can cover them.
Don't expect to make it to the end without significant loss of life.
Gameplay consists of periodic and progressively more dangerous air raids (consisting of fighters and bombers), with a breather to smash the missile crews on the ground ahead.
Tactical advice: Early on, you are far more vulnerable than the city. Try not to bump into anything, break off an attack if necessary to preserve yourself.
Later on, at about 3/4 the way through, bombers really start to overwhelm the defense tower unless you wipe them out before they reach the city.
Made with Game Maker 6.1, runs on windows 98SE through to windows 7.

Torpedoes are quite tricky. If you fly close to the ground you'll see a blue circle appear; this is a 'crosshair' for aiming torpedoes.
Also if you hold shift, you move at a slower maximum speed and gravity doesn't take affect, allowing you to do torpedo runs.
I had a great difficulty lining up any of my shots and would often find the enemies on top of me before I could do anything about it.
I would say, everything needs to move slower. You may want to double-check that your game logic is framerate independent.
