Good idea, poor execution. Since terrain is not important, nations could be placed on a single screen, elimintating the cumbersome scrolling. Events seem to have little impact to care about, nations could happily trade or fight for centuries without any interesting consequences.

I 100% agree, I spent too much time on features and graphics and totally ran out of time when it came to gameplay and sound. Right now this is more of an unfinsihed simulation, maybe with another 48 hours I could make it into somthing fun.

Good effort and I like the graphics. The scrolling is annoying. To make it an actual game I would first simplify (politics/religions?) and then add an actual loosing condition. So perhaps four nations should be played by the AI?

Interesting idea, though, as you said, there isn't much point to it yet.

I was kind of confused that I could control all of the nations, but it was a fun toy/ simulation to play with :P.

Is their a way to destroy a country?

Right now there is no way to destroy countries. I ran out of time before I could think of win/lose scenarios and what that means for nations. As I have 5000 years in which I need to balance so nations don't kill each other in 100 or so years. I want to put more thought into this one day and make it playable and meaningful. Then maybe release it free on the Android.

It's a pretty interesting start to something.

I don't have any gameplay suggestions right now, but could you maybe make the desertification reflect on the map? Some of the population growth made it look like you already had that, but I think I was wrong. Anyway, it might look neat / grim.

That's a neat idea. Right now I have little black dots that represent cities that get built on the map. But I should be able to replace forests (green) with deserts (brown) over time.

Cool I'd like to see you continue this after the judging ends

It seems like every single Ludum Dare somehow manages to have a "clash of civilizations sim" in the mix. Some of them end up being pretty good, most are overscoped like this one.

Good overall idea. After setting up some trades/wars though the game feels more like a computer model simulation than a game. I like though that you went with a strategy game. I think those are very hard to get done within such a short time.

a good effort, would like to see it expanded and cleaned up.

This game looks great visually and idea-wise but it seems quite unfinished. I didn't know what impact my decisions had.
So as it is now it's unfortunately quiet pointless but has potential for something bigger and better.

Had the feel of an old civ type thing, needs a single nation controlled with 4 AI.

very ambitious

I guess you spend more time on features than gameplay

still - I think it's more or less the only entry of this kind and that's always an achievement with 1400+ entries

concept is quite great, graphics are decent too. reminded me of the Civ. games

I'm looking forward playing your next ludum dare entry ;)

Thanks, I am still working on it, I want to release it as a finished game one day
