Mini Marauders! by xBlinkedx

[raw]
made by xBlinkedx for LD23 (COMPO)
Mini Marauders is a little game where you are stuck on a tiny world and being chased by 3 Marauders. They will cause 15 damage each time they hit you and you must try to avoid them.
You can pick up coins found in chests around the map to increase your score. These chests will also have a chance to drop bombs that can be used to kill the attacking Marauders.
Your goal is to get the highest score as you possibly can before you are killed.
Further instructions can be found by pressing F1 in game.

Very amusing, was a bit of a laugh. Could have made the level a bit more interesting. Had fun though.

Pretty fun. I would recommend you to not have a Wall of text as instructions though.

Could have made the island a little bit random :).

This was actually a lot of FUN, well balanced fun-wise but could have been improved with just a few minor tweaks. Zoom in a lot and scroll the screen. That would give it a a real classic game boy-esque feel Also, use better fonts and add music that fits at the very least use an auto-tracker if you run out of time.

Good job.

Thanks for this.

A randomly generated island, and some background music would have done wonders! However, the difficulty of them always being on your trail was interesting. Made turning corners and navigating the trees dangerous activities! Im not sure the chests should have been collidable though. a few times they boxed me in around the chest and began the slaugherfest!

Good job! This was really fast-paced, and I ended up dying pretty quickly the first few plays. All told, I had fun with this game!

I would try it if you had a Web or OSX version.

Wow that's hard. Spawned in a tree once. I liked the simplicity though and it does have a nice frantic feel.

This was HARD! Kudos for that. :) Also wished for some background music here. Well balanced, frantic.

Game was fun, Perhaps some kind of level structure or just randomised island?

Nice and frantic! It had a slapstick-ish, Benny Hill-esque feel to it! XD The first couple plays were challenging, but once you realize you an outrun the marauders by moving diagonally, it became quite easy.

Now for some variations on the island, both in size and shape, a handful of randomly placed bonus and environmental dangers, and you have a winner! :)

Congratulations!

Quite fun, nice to burn the player's ass a little.
Ideas for improvement: Adding more marauders over time, not making the bastards randomly respawn (Murphy's law means that they'll spawn on a player's face at least once, had it happen second game which made me want to stop using bombs at all. Would seem a lot fairer if marauders came in from the edges rather than just popping out of nowhere.

Didn't really suit the theme that well imo.

31 was the best I could manage, died due to catching on a box of all things, haha.

Very fun. The gameplay is almost same as mine but yours is more. I prefer health rather bomb ;)

AAAAAAHHH get that knife outta my rear! Here, have some dynamite! The chests making you stop was a bit frusturating, but I like chase games. I enjoyed it.

I feel as though there should have been some more mechanics to keep the enemies away. Also, there didn't seem much point in placing the bombs as they just instantly spawned again.
