Bioclash by gammabeam

[raw]
made by gammabeam for LD23 (COMPO)
A defense game with semi-automated units.

- Done with HTML's game maker Construct 2: www.scirra.com.
- Actual work time was about 18-20 hours.
- Couldn't work on my main theme so the visuals are abstract.
- Also, it took me a lot of time to create the mechanics so menus, tutorials and sound is missing. :(
- Balancing is a bit off, but you'll still have a nice time playing it. :D

TUTORIAL:
- The buttons are: ATTACK / RETREAT / CREATE MINION
- When in your base, your recharge health, and can spend XP on upgrades.
- Minions stay close to the base and attack the enemies that are close to the edge of the screen.

Hope you like it!

First game I wanted to keep on playing, and will be back to play again.

Graphics work really well and the gameplay is addicting had to remind myself to stop playing and come back and rate the game. Really nicely balanced and a good satisfying feel to the game.

Managed to survive 474 seconds, which I think is pretty good. It seemed a bit confusing at first, which is odd, because it only has three buttons, but once I'd figured it out, I was golden.

Really fun idea, great concept.

It took so long for my bacteria to reach the others that I initially thought I was missing some control, but after he started attacking and I could create minions it all started to make sense. Very nice graphics. Main gripe really is just the initial speed of my main dude.

Awesome game, 557 seconds survival time and I'm sure I'll be back to play it again.
Having said that, the UI could use a bit more descriptive buttons for the three main actions. Especially the third one.

Idea of this is not new, however, it never fails to deliver. Fun to play and fits the theme.

I really enjoyed the art style for this game. It's slick and clean, and it looks really nice. The game was fun too, and the great design helped with that too. :)

Wow! Thanks for the feedback folks!
I'll try to work on a few improvements for the game and post it here on the forum, apart from the competition (you can do this, right?)

I like it! It was hard to figure out at first. I also couldn't tell when I was allowed to make new minions. I just kept spamming that button. Very impressive that this is all HTML. Nice work.

528 on first try, crashed the browser (Safari 5.2 (7536.6.1)) on second attempt. I've never played a defense game before but this seemed pretty intuitive. Only thing I couldn't figure out was the meaning of the number in the middle of the bottom right next to what looks like an enemy. It counted down occasionally but I couldn't tell why. Does it decrease after x enemies are killed?

Hard to understand at first, but entertaining and fun! Loved the Gammabeam logo, by the way! If I can make a crazy suggestion, you should implement those characters in some videogame!

423 on my second try. I found it quite fun, also, background graphics and animations were very good. I do wonder, though, what's the best strategy so far? The game is really hard, sometimes I get mad at the antibody-thingy for moving so slowly, and the "speed" upgrade doesn't really make much of a change =/

Too bad it doesn't have sound, with so many stuff happening in the same time it would give the game a really satisfying feeling!

This is the perfect example where great ideas even if simple reach the players. just need a bit of music :)
Im not sure if its a bug, but upgrades dont work. My "unit" didnt attack harder or have more hp when upgrade.

The game is very addictive, but I think it is too slow.
First I though that I couldn't let the virus pass the left side of screen, but nothing happens if they do. o.0
Other than that, great graphics and very creative!

Pretty solid! It could use some fine-tuning, but that's to be expected.

512 seconds on my first try! Really well balanced and the upgrade system was really easy to use, shame there was no sound but a great attempt nonetheless!
