Chip Wars by Parthon

[raw]
made by Parthon for LD23 (COMPO)
A game about putting down chips on a PCB in order to combat the holographic minions.

Didn't get it as finished as I would like, but I got finished enough.

I'm still inspired by the concept. If it gets a lot of comments, I'll keep working on it. :D

I don't understand elettronics, but it's a cool idea :)
Good job!

I really like the idea :) Placement mechanics were really cool too, but once I had some things down, I wasn't too sure what to do :p Definately a cool concept, would've been nice to see it fleshed out some more!

Really interesting concept. Probably one of the most unique games in the compo.

It does feel like there is something cool here. I started off really excited to get my chips down, but wasn't sure where to go next. But, I still enjoyed my experience.

I really like the idea! Cool easily see this built up more. I like how you have to plan out where you need to place all your parts to make it the most efficient you can.

it took me some time to lay down an efficient layout - which was a bit frustrating since there's no feature to remove chips but quite rewarding after being able to use most if not all pins and have several RAM/Timer connected BIOS bricks and seeing all those blue guys come out

... sadly there isn't much game in it after this

but the concept is a nice idea and I'm sure you could improve on it to make it a really fun game - big potential!

Certainly a cool concept, functional looks and it reminds me of darwinia a lil bit :) I didn't get too far into the game sadly but would like to see an extended version of the game, ideally with a tutorial section :) It's a tough one to rate for me though as I couldn't get that into the game sadly.

Very nice idea even if i can't play it.
No it's not that i can't run the game. It's that i can't understand how to play. I'm just able to test many random position without knowing why i'm doing it and just hope that something come up.

If you'll keep working on it, clarify the purpose of the game. With some text or with some simple schemas of possible combinaisons giving some abitilities or something else. Like a simgame do.

I like the idea here! But it is clear you didnt get a few things done which probably would have added to it a lot. Some sfx, and visuals to show the enemys were doing damage or being attacked would have helped convey a lot. As with a master health bar or something. I was going to say that making it more obvious where and how the parts attach would help, but I think thats just part of learning initially. Perhaps a tutorial level (without attacking baddies) would be cool, so the player can practice and get tips before jumping into the real game.

This has potential though, Ive given you points for innovation and in keeping with the theme. Add more parts, some more structure and conveyance and this will develop nicely :)

Damn near impossible to play without a scrollwheel.
