Bullet Evolution!
I made a shmup for this Ludum Dare competition.

Use WASD To move and K to shoot, depending on the enemies you kill different stats will increase. If you kill the enemies that move fast, you will move faster, if you kill the enemies that shoot fast, you will shoot faster! Etc. The enemies that shoot a spread of bullets increase your power which thus increases your bullet spread/power.

Enemies also get stronger as you get stronger.

It didn't turn out as good as I hoped but hey! I finished it in under 48hours so it is a success in my book!

Would be nice to get some sort of indication that I had powered up instead of periodically looking at the bottom to look at what had changed. Otherwise, nice shoot-em-up.

K to shoot... do you like vi or something? ;0

This was seriously hard. It throws a lot at you and gives you a pea shooter to deal with it.

Pretty cool, and a very interesting concept!

Csanyk: You start with a pea shooter but you can evolve it into a pretty nice shotgun style cannon :)

I purposely made the player start with extremely low stats to force them to work up to it

I played for quite a while and didn't notice myself getting any stronger at all.

@Desi Quintans You have to kill different enemies to raise different stats. So if you only kill the tanks your hp is the only thing thats going to increase.

Also if you kill the anti's that gets you a pretty large stat drop

Wow, that is difficult. I like how what you destroy determines your stats.

A good effort, I liked the graphics and the sounds. The game lagged a bit on my computer though :(

Wow, that is really hard... or maybe I'm just terrible at these games. Seems like it could use some better feedback to the user, and maybe a progression of enemies so you're not thrown into the crazy mix from the start. Cool concept, though.

For some reason it crashed after awhile with the error:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "main.py", line 32, in <module>
pygame.error: Couldn't open gunner.png

Seems like the file's there so I'm not sure why that happened.
