Ancient Motivation Technology by TheMightySice

[raw]
made by TheMightySice for LD36 (JAM)
Welcome Ladys and Gentlemen!

Today we'll timetravel back to the good old days.
In those days workers still had the previlege of having a motivator.

Feeling tired? GET MOTIVATED! Don't won't to work anymore? GET MOTIVATED!

In this game you have the chance to play as an old-school motivator and lay
hand on some real ancient motivation technology.

You simply have to pass you working day.
But be careful! Some workers might get demotivated, as you aren't motivating them enough. They will try to end their work day with your death.

HAVE FUN MOTIVATING!

Edit: The game was created in 48h and for the compo, but had to be moved to the Jam-Section, since I forgot to replace a placeholder sound and therefor compo rules do no apply :/

The most effective tactic seems to be not motivating your workers until they look for a reason to be motivated. I surprisingly enjoyed reminding them - probably because of the satisfying whip sound effect - good job on that

the sfx adds a bit of humor to the somewhat sadistic game. Neat concept. but by the end of it you're whipping hordes of people chasing you down.

Nice game, but i found easy way to win all stages, just stay in the corner and time to time move, if you will change it this game would be realy good.

Ha ha ha! I love the idea! Really nice touch with main character in menu. Sounds are nicely coming along with what happens on screen.

Wow, this is actually really cool to play. The art is nice and the sound really adds to the game. The idea is a bit of strange one but a fun one none the less. It's well executed although it disturbs me how much fun it was to play. Great game, well made and a lot of fun to play. An all round great entry.

It's fun at first but a bit unfair, and the gameplay quickly gets dire.

hah, cool idea! The sounds make the game so much better. Also one suggestions: have you tried making the work day counter decrease only when someone is working? That would probably motivate the player to keep motivating the workers rather than defending from them :P

Pretty cool. The visuals and sound design were well done. The whip sound in particular was very satisfying. The gameplay was a pretty original concept that works well for the most part. It's an interesting take on a time management game like Diner Dash. It was kinda annoying that you get booted to the title screen every time you die. Eventually I just gave up after attempting level three so many times. Still, it's a job well done.

That was a treat. All it's missing are whip upgrades and maybe some different worker types. Could be a great arcade game. I only felt hindered by the controls in a couple instances of hitting a closer worker in the opposite direction of me when I was aiming at an unmotivated worker.

You are missing some basic things like a level selection screen and a pause menu. Other than that, not much to say. Solid entry!

Nice game based on an original idea. The gameplay become a bit repetitive though.

This is a cool idea! Beat the last level by hiding in a corner :p Maybe add some more gameplay elements like AI-slavers, or a AOE whip and running shoes :p

Awesome idea for a game. Great fun.
Sound effects were really good and motivated me to motivate them.
Controls were good. I felt like the slaves "attack range" was probably a little too big.

Needs power ups, slaves with different attributes, and random infinite levels. Then you could play it for hours.

You can't really keep up with demand for motivation, so you just end up kiting them around.
Still. Good job!
