DNA Wars by derevensky

[raw]
made by derevensky for LD24 (COMPO)
As far as I know evolution is based on genetics. DNA Wars is a strategy/puzzle game in biochemical setting where you have 4 types of organic cells and your mission is to cure 4 genetic mutations which will try to hurt you.

Please read the tutorial if you will have some issues.

This is my first strategy game though, i hope it's fun.

I found it quite hard, otherwise it's a very original strategy game, well polished and pleasant to play. Gave plenty of stars to this one :)

It a bit confusing at first, but you get hang of it fast. Seems like pretty solid strategy puzzle game.

The game progressed at a good rate, the start was paced well enough so that I was able to get to grips with the mechanics. After then I had fun developing the DNA sequence.

Graphics were good and consistent, the sound added to the game without becoming repetitive or distracting.

A very nice game indeed. It's a nice twist on basic tower defence, a genre I generally hate. This game was minimalistic yet still strategic enough to keep me interested. Very well done!

Great game, though I must confess I was never able to destroy a mutation. After I extended my network out to the corners I wasn't quite sure how to get the white cells to activate. Setting that aside I thought the game was quite polished.

Great gameplay ! It felt quite strategic but still was easy to grasp. Not much "evolution" in it but nice execution

I really liked the mechanic but it lacked a goal to try and aim for.

Nice! Good feel and execution. Quite confusing at first but after a couple of times I got it going real good! Could have used the theme a bit more. Not so much evolution in just DNA.

Well done. The feeling when you've overextended yourself is like: "NOOOOOO"

It seems that I can overwrite my own cells. In case of absorber cell, a dna fragment that is being tractor-beamed inward remains frozen after I have overwritten the absorber cell

Ther's also a race condition. Try clicking very fast, and you can place a cell that doesn't fit the grid.

Amazing game!

It takes a while to start figuring out the right cell to choose, but after that it becomes really fun. In addition, the level of polish is quite high.

That's an awesome game. I really like the game mechanics and the artwork is well done. The music gets annoying after some time.

Great game, with a simple but very effective mechanic. I did encounter a bug on my second go (before I'd figured things out yet) where the dead mutations stopped leaving behind DNA fragments for me to collect, making the game impossible. Thought I was just really bad at it for a while before I realised something was amiss and refreshed. Afterwards got the hang of it, although it's still a well-balanced game and stays challenging throughout.

Seems like a solid puzzle/tower defence game. I think I'm too stupid to figure out what I'm supposed to be doing (despite reading the instructions) but from what I played I liked it

Thanks everyone! Sorry about bugs - i'm not good at high-speed coding :< I'm glad you all enjoyed game mechanics. I found a good artist on it, so we are turning it into a real rts project. All i can say now is that the game will be about wild west and zombies :D Follow my twitter to wach development progress.

Really outstanding. You have a finely balanced system of mechanics and the game is quite addictive. At some point I start getting overwhelmed and my defense grid goes irrecoverably downhill, but I lasted almost 15 minutes in my second game after taking a little time to understand how things worked together. This is a brilliant game, and amazingly polished for a 48-hour project.

a good strategic game, a bittle of puzzle, good graphic, strange and charming music make this game one of my favourite of this LD24! Well done!

note: all your game are amazing, but this is special, innovative and well done, you will continue in development?

Nice one! I would have liked a few more options to reconfigure my setup on the fly but it was quite a fun game to play after I learned what to do :)
