Cool - the game runs on DOS Box in Linux just fine, so you should add that to the download list. OS X will work fine as well. To make it run (assuming the game is extracted to /users/username/evogem):

sudo apt-get install dosbox
dosbox

Then, in dosbox:
mount c /home/username/evogem
C:
EVOLVE.EXE


Anyway, I like it a lot. Very old school, and very cool. I played a bunch of times, never got far: high score just 7798, but I'll keep trying :) Also, you're crazy for writing this in QBasic (so bonus points for that)!

One point - I think that it would be nice to be able to skip the introduction rooms after the first play, and the game needs more instructions.

Overall, an excellent entry, which is both fun and sticks to the theme. Very out of the box, great work.

Nice, maybe some pre-generated trophies, instead of randomly generating every time you entered area. Good game nonetheless.

Absolutely dig that you wrote it in Qbasic. Did you use Qbasic as the IDE or did you write it in another editor and just use qbasic for "compiling" it? I'm amazed if you pulled off using the editor, it would have driven me mad!

I like the little "tips" and "facts" that pop up at the bottom, though they're incredibly distracting! Over all the game has a really nice feel to it, and gives me nostalgia for the old Qbasic games I used to play.

Amazing, the source code alone looks great :D It is quite hard and I needed 3 deaths to understand the game mechanics. Totally extra points for QBasic, but the game would work with nearly every other theme. Still, I really like it and it definitly is a great must-play entry!

Last but not least: Please do not use these filehosters, they totally suck (you need to wait, they are slow and annoying). Just use dropbox or some webspace :)

This game turned out to be one of my favorites - the look and feel is great, and while it takes a touch of time to get used to the controls, I felt like this is a really nice style.

Oh, wow, I love that this is in QBasic - I first learned programming from making Qbasic games :) none of mine were as sophisticated as this.

I suggest that you try using FreeBasic, it's a more modern compiler that works with Qbasic code and makes .exes that work without Dosbox.

The game is cool, and brought back memories for me of playing MegaZeux. I didn't get very far (I need to go to bed) but I'm very happy that I stumbled across this game :)

It's good, but really difficult! I keep running into things and dying, even on easy mode :(
