Parental Guidance by Maple
MAC / Unix users: simply start the .exe with WINE, works to the end (don't press F4, though).

-------LIGHT-SWITCH-FIX-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it's ok to rate the fixed version, but I've kept the non-fixed version up just in case.
Spoiler-free explanation:
The kitchen light switch remains in the "on" position if you leave the room while it's flickering. The light switch fix guarantees that the light switch in the kitchen is "off" weather you leave the room while it's flickering or not. The state of the kitchen light switch is important if you want to finish the game.
If you didn't download the fixed version, don't fear:
Simply flick the kitchen light switch on, and wait for it to completely turn off again before leaving the room to ensure it is "off".
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You wake up to find that your parents have gone on holidays without you. You're just about at shocked as I was.
Evolution refers to the way your thoughts, feelings, actions and environment changes.
Controls:
Arrows = Move. X = Interact.
F2/F3/F4 = Adjust screen.
R = Restart. ESC = End.
There is no saving because it is a short game.
Tools used:
-Game Maker
-MS Paint, Paint.net
-Audacity
-PxTone
-Fontstruct
Enjoy, and let me know what you think.

Wellll that was uhh... worth playing. Haha, how to comment without spoiling anything for people who read the comments. Let's just say, keep playing until you start to see things change. That was awesome.
Neat graphics, the music fits, sounds are a little abrupt but well placed. Mood was perfect. A but lacking on "fun" in that its frustrating constantly backtracking (don't know exactly how it is that events are triggered).
Genuinely creepy. You had me unwilling to move forward (but I did anyway).
I absolutely despise you for making me do the one thing I didn't want to, and making it hard as heck to when it had to be done.
Thank you, this game is horrifying and wonderful.
I'd pay for something like this.
Only things against it are:
Slightly mundane/abstract view of the theme, though fitting.
Graphics were a bit confusing at times.
It was hard to understand how to make progress.
Regardless, thank you for this masterpiece. Fantasmal.
@cadin: I would like for Mac users to be able to play this, but unfortunately I don't have the skill or means of producing one at the moment, so I'm going to have to say no. :/
very well done, although I there isn't much gameplay in it
Mood is perfect, I was kinda scaried for a while! Graphics were cute too!
Great game! I played all the way through and it took me quite a while. I'm pretty sure I read every single piece of dialog in every corner of every room! There were some interesting ones.
I felt my heart legitimately jump when all the spikes appeared in the kitchen. You did a very nice job of keeping up the mood throughout the whole game. I really enjoyed walking around and seeing things change little bit by little. As someone else mentioned, I wasn't really sure what triggered it so there were a few times where I'd walk around a interact with everything but I couldn't see much happening. I realised towards the end that the two lines of blood seemed to have something to do with it? Nevertheless it allowed me to read just about all the text.
I did find the ending a little predictable though, as many games have used that same storyline - that sort of "who am I?" element, leading to a tragic ending (often "I am a monster"). Though I wasn't quite sure if the character you play did that to his parents or if the parents themselves did something weird (like kill themselves or each other?).
Overall an amazing game, wonderful work! I really loved the atmosphere and the dialogue. Great job!
Nice mood, really scary. But I'm not sure about the theme ;-)
@Krell: I'm glad it seems better than a 48 hour game. If you follow my timelapse close enough you'll see that I did everything within the 48 hours and actually wasted so much time within the 48 hours 'playtesting' without a clue as to what to do next, and talking to people. I honestly believe that in 48 hours a game much, much, much better than this can be (and has been) made. Also, while I was hoping for "abandoned" to be the theme, the game would not be the same without some influences given by "evolution". For example, [spoilers]I wouldn't have made the apartment change so much if not for the theme[/spoilers]. I'm happy you enjoyed my game.
I don't really can get the feeling is these kind of games so I found it boring as you can't do anything interesting in it, but the texts kept me entertained enought to play it through. Althought it would be good if they change as you advance in the story.
I don't quite understand what happend and why there, but it's fine I'm just a little boy... :)
