Evolution of the Flying Pinatas by Zelen3d

[raw]
made by Zelen3d for LD24 (JAM)
Ok, so you wanted to transform a giant alien fly in a pinata by means of accelarated in vitro evolution. It worked... you think. But you forgot to close the door of the test room. And now these flies are flying around the place reproducing and evolving. Beat them with your bat!

Note: I can't get this to work with IE9. It is an issue with this library I'm using to color my flies called Pixastic that on purposely checks if the browser is IE and if it is, it shuts down itself, without considering the version.

So much candy... I know those red/yellow circles causes the fly pinatas to multiply, but do they multiply from colliding each other according to kind? If that were true, that would definitely add a little more difficulty; just a little bit.
Good game by the way!

The chaos of the initial confrontation is exhilarating, through it drags a bit, and I'm not sure there's an end-game. I must applaud you for making a protagonist that is proud of their latino heritage, despite the likely hurdles in getting this kind of biotech job.

Okay that was confusing. Nice enough graphics, the action is completely chaotic and gameplay objectives questionable :D

Nice simple game. Graphics are quit nice but when i killed all of them, and picked all of the bodies from the floor, nothing happened :D Plus, these flying things are not attacking or multiplying at a point so the gameplays needs to get a bit more challenging i think.

Going to have to look at your source code, this runs very smoothly!

jplur: here is a couple of hints: I used Typed Arrays, to reduce array overhead. Since they are kinda tricky to use, I made a librairy to simplify their use befor the compo. Then, I separated my event handlers, my drawing loop(requestAnimationFrame), and my updating loop(setInterval). And the rest is just drawing optimization: not drawing what is beyond the screen.

Yeah I liked this one, bit of rush when they all multiply at the start, then quite fun trying to back them into corners and clear the lab, then a good chase tofinish off the last few

It seems like it would be fun to guard the doors, but the way it's tuned, it's not fun. Eventually one gets out and then they're everywhere

aeveis That's weird, Are you sure you are using the recent chrome? I tested on chrome on windows 7 64 and it worked for me... And then it's html5 and doesn't use any webGL, so it should work on any computer.

Nice idea, but if you rush in immediately it's not so hard. ;)

Loved swatting all those huge flies. Very satisfying!! I wished there was more. This is such an excellent start, though and definitely something to build on. This game is one I'd like to see develop. Well done!

Weird but fun. I had no idea what I was doing or trying to do, but I did smash lots of fruit flies. Graphics are crisp; controls responsive, but it was really hard to know what to do.

It was nice to chase all these flies since movements are smooth. I miss some action when all the flies are destroyed, some kind of "Victory" screen.

i tried again today and it worked! not sure what the problem was, maybe it was the internet on my side or something. Pretty fun, It could be more interesting if evolving change how the flies's properties or something like that.

I liked the fly movement it looked natural. The story behind it is humorous but I think it would have improved things if you gave it some Mexican themed music and added a victory screen if you win.
