Phantom planet by Killerbug

[raw]
made by Killerbug for LD24 (JAM)
We barely made something working. Basically, there's 4 types of living beings on the planet, one of them is planet itself. They all interact with eachother, and have a chance of triggering an evolution. There are two possible evolutions for each (and each can devolve back with right influence), and the chance is affected by the domination factor of that specific being.

This is a very unfinished version, so bear with me! Though it doesn't have a defined end, you can still try and get all the evolutions- it functions as a sandbox game (it probably has quite a few bugs as well)

CONTROLS:
Arrows: move
Z: enter meditation
X: remove being

Very, very pretty! I didn't quite grasp the full concept of the game (as you said, it's in a fairly unfinished state), but keep at it!

Unfortunately did not do anything when I tried to run it. Process stayed open for a little while and then closed.

Ran it from the command line too, just to see if there was any output (there wasn't).

I played a game sort of like this before where you jumped between planets and walked around them. It was fun so this appealed to me a lot. It was good too, nice job.

@D3zmodos we sure will! All it needs is balancing evolution trees and ending scenes/triggers.

Let me put words to this game... are you telling me that we can model our universe and choose if we want dogs/wolves in our planet or cloudy-sheeps?
why if years pass like eons and eons, the black Little white Riding Hood remains with the same appeareance? and is he or she ...even it? a god? XD
love this game, ha the potencial to be so many things, it depends on the sound, music, and other features you may add ;)
check out my game, is about planets too, and some dark also :)
Would love to see this in XBox360

I'm new to LD, but this is the kind of thing I like. I can't really explain it, but while I meditated it looked like sheep were mating with wolves, and when I went over to a wolf it was having a pee...

Would have liked some sound, but, nice effort, and proper bonkers... :)

I like the graphics and the concept, but I cannot quite grasp the mechanics. I can only meditate and kill things?

@Kumquat That's right. Our initial design was a comet coming for the planet, which would put a time limit on the game. During that time, player would have to meet certain conditions (evolution combinations, population), which would help protect the planet.

Nice game. Just one point - returning from meditation in initial point, may better return in place where you start meditate.

Uh, it's interesting and looks nice, but it isn't much of a game really from what I gather.
Also some music may have made a huge difference.
