Ivan the Infection by AuxiliumGames

[raw]
made by AuxiliumGames for LD24 (COMPO)
A game where you play as a germ (Ivan the Infection), who can develop immunity to antibodies by being repeatedly exposed to them.

You will need to have flash installed to play.

Thanks for reading/playing!

I have thought for a while that one of the best examples of rapid natural selection is seeing bacteria develop immunity to antibiotics due to the rate at which they reproduce.

Hope the game isn't as boring as the previous paragraph :D

Final score 63050 - I guess, I'm not very good...

The game is great, really well done. Sounds are awesome, especially the in-menu music. It looks and feels really polished!

I'm going to play again later on, to figure that immunity thing out...

Got about 40k and I was using trying to use the immunities to get as many of that color as possible by culling the ones that were the wrong color. Sadly the kept switching colors and I wasn't quick enough to change them. Interesting little game :)

Darn, I was hoping that I'd be able to gain immunity by getting hit by an enemy of a certain color! If your health slowly regenerated, you could play it that way, where you can only build up immunity to one color, so you have to choose - kind of like Ikaruga except way slower...

nice!
the only thing that took me by surprise is the lack of music during the game although you made fantastic in-menu music
other than that - very solid gameplay, loved killing off all that enemies

Wow, this is really fun. Something about the movement and shooting feels just right. Love it. I like the Ikaruga-sorta color mechanics too.

I liked it! To me it seemed a lot like a horror game of some sort. I was generally scared at some point. Perhaps the sheer numbers of enemies might have something to do with it. Anyway, great job.

Really liked this one. Liked the art style, and the general feel of being totally overwhelmed was great. The effect of the bacteria dying kept me wanting come back.

Really liked having to try to work my way over to powerups through the horde. One of my favorite games so far.

I loved this, even though I'm terrible at it.

The sounds and graphics were great, and I really liked being able to aim up and down in a platforming shooter. The controls felt very smooth, and obviously this fits the theme perfectly.

nice oldschool arcade-type game, broke 112k but it just gets insanely packed at that point, i did find the aiming a little frustrating though, often if you quickly turn around you still keep shooting the opposite way.

I like it. Very well done, and nicely polished. Add some sort of natural end-point so you can change up the level, and the replay value would go up a lot.
