TECHNICAL INFOS:
===========
Engine : Unity3D
2D Framework : Orthello2D (free version)
Drawings : Paint Tool Sai and Photoshop
Music : GarageBand (yeah, i suck at music so i just assembled some loops :<)
DESCRIPTION:
=======
It's my first time participating in this event so of course, I thought something too big for me so I couldn't finished in time for the other LD48.
It's not totally finished, polished and tested, but I hope someone will be able to finish it at least once.
STORY:
====
As a newborn, your character has not yet a personality. He is very motivated to be someone, but there are obstacles on his way.
Grown up monsters will try to discourage him from growing up and bully you.
Fortunately, his friends will support him and cheer him up.
His evolution into someone good or evil will depend on positive and negative support from his environment.
The more positive energy you get, the better you will become.
However, if you receive too much negative energy, your character will give up and become a bad person.
GOAL:
====
Each word will affect your determination represented by your positive energy points (blue bar).
Positive word will give you positive points.
Negative word will make you loose positive points.
You start at 100 points, try to get 1000 points to finish the game.
The game is over if you reach 0 positive points (determination loss) OR 1000 negative points.
CONTROLS:
=====
- Use the arrow keys (left and right) to move forward and backward on screen. Try collect positive words and avoid negative ones.
- Double dash by pressing an horizontal arrow key twice.
- Jump with the up arrow key.
- You can double jump in mid-air.
UPDATE:
- 28/08/2012 : Added Web Player link (I forgot Unity3D could do this one...)
Have fun !

I'm aware of this problem of "too much bullet", i got a lot of problem with balancing the game... Guess it's still not okay.
During the development phase, I also made an "item system" which gives power to the player, but i didn't have time to polish it so i removed it. (Story-related, it was the possibility to manually call friends and family to give you their support)
For example, one useful item could totally clean the screen, absorbing good words and destroy bad ones.
(The code is in the game in fact, I just removed the input controller to show and use this feature)
Anyway, thank you for playing !
btw, cool game =D liked it
At first, it was not a cat but a dog with agressive "waf waf!" and "wouf!". I ended drawing a cat and didn't had the time to change his bad role xD
Thanks all for you comments !
Really enjoyed, but it lagged a lot in my pc... x.x
I'll try to adjust these overhelming word problem at the end and the controls for a next time :)
The concept is really nice, I like the idea about emotional evolution. However, I felt that the gameplay was a bit too random. I didn't feel like I was really able to control the outcome. I tried my very best to get only blue words, but pure randomness pushed the red letters in my face all the time.
Overall a very enjoyable game.
I'm currently working on an improved version of this game, I will reduce the randomness of bullets and add more control to the player.
I didn't know about Cardboard Carnival, thank you for the reference :)
