* Epic boss battle
* 2 musical tracks
* 8bit sound effects

On the title screen there is a spear so why is my hero holding some giant tampon instead?
And why am I fighting dogs along the way if my mission is to beat up the slimes :D
Enemy variation was also very good, and I liked their behaviour.
The player weapon wasn't very fun and I would've enjoyed it a lot more with some upgrades.
Having some love2d experience myself it is weird that such a game would have excessive loading times and almost crash when loading the game, so probably some issues to sort out there.
On the whole, very nice job.
My weapon wasn't working anymore as soon as it overlapped a slime (nothing happens when X pressed), and on the boss level it pratically wasn't working at all (I'm on Windows 32bits).
Other than that, very pleasant experience :)
I particularly liked how I seemed to be smacking things in the face with a shovel.
Also, your boss was hard but very funny to kill :)

Sound is nice, and the graphics are great, especially the damage numbers! I didn't find much reason to attack slimes that weren't blocking my way, or the boss, which wasn't many - not sure if that's intended or there needs to be more incentive.
Also, props for the monsters IA (making them shake before attacking is a nice touch) and also for the text animation when hurting enemies ; these are the kind of details that make combat fun. With more contents I would clearly see this as a fun mobile game.
If I were to suggest something, it would be simply to add some basic leveling system: the main reason would be to make it more rewarding to fight monsters instead of rushing to the final boss. Also maybe increase the weapon hitbox a bit ;)
Really fun game. Amazing you got it all done yourself so quickly. I didn't play all the way, but if there's no change in gameplay (new items, abilities, etc), you might consider adding them in a post-compo version to make it more engaging.
