Rock-Parer-Scissors War by Vladp995

[raw]
made by Vladp995 for LD24 (COMPO)
I wasn't going to participate at first but ended up realizing an idea I had.

In the game there are 3 units: rock, paper and scissors, each unit is running from the stronger unit and chasing the weaker one, or if it can't see anyone it just wander around at random, after defeating enough enemies your units level up (evolve) which make them better but more expensive.

If you find a winning strategy or sure it's random, leave a response in the comments :)

For in game help press F1.

Nice idea, but its execution could've been better.

Cool games I like the way you have to always check your opponent team to adapt.

This was kind of fun. The concept is cute, but I quickly lost interest. I don't really see how it matched the theme. It was funny as hell to watch though.

In game instructions would have been very helpful.

Thanks for the responses :)
@Ezzam What do you mean by "execution"? loading time?
@jamezogamer101 When they starting to level up they can destroy the base a lot more faster.
@Benjamin Yeah :) the opponent is pretty much do the opposite then you do so it's hard to win.
@Sidnoea At the beginning it was suppose to be a game with different spices killing each other and evolves. Now it's not a real game where you can change something but mostly just watch them chase each other and cheer for your units :D

@zatyka There is a small help when pressing F1.

Looked good, played good (for me keyboard controlled output, like '1' for rock would be preferrable). There is a winning strategy I think, and that is watching what B puts out and looking out for enemies coming close and putting out an defender at the last moment.
Nice.

This mediafire link infected me with Trojan.Win32.FakeGdf. Please consider something else to upload that.

By the way, i liked the concept of the game! I don't like the IA wait for me to do the first move..

@goerp Glad you likes it :) There are already keyboard controls exactly like that (1-rock 2-scissors 3-paper), and yes this is probably the only strategy to win.
@infernet89 sorry :( never happen before, also the madiafire antivirus checked the files. Didn't know how to make the AI weak so I made him strong..

Really like the idea! But a bit repetitive.
Well done :)

Very long, I didn't finish. It was a nice idea but it seemed very random as I couldn't control the movements of anyone.

More interesting than it looks! A way to direct your units even a little bit might have been interesting, or at least give them more sophisticated AI... maybe something like the officers in Darwinia. A way of keeping score or getting a list of how many units you and your opponent have could be nice too. Maybe multiplayer? Idunno!

Thank you all :D
It really would be even more interesting if the AI was better like a swarm AI so groups of units could chase down more efficiency, maybe in the future I will make an AI using reinforcement learning (or offer the player an API for his own AI) and take this concept even further, I see many people liked it :)
If you like this game you should check Benjamins game about two AI teams fighting each other it's really awesome! here: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-24/?action=preview&uid=2952

Pretty fun, when you figure out what to do. Also, if you go to the corner you have no way to get out of there.

@sev_inf what do you mean cornered?

Well, I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to do. The enemy just counters everything I make and I have no way to control the units. Seems like pure luck whether I win or lose.

Very nice addon for the basic rock-paper-scissors game.

I love how it turned out. I had a hard ime playing it though. My things rarely attacked because they where chased most of the time. Also they couldn't defend the base because they came out on the opposite side of it. It would be better if you need to press a key for changing the minion to be placed and place it in the direction of a mouse click.

Also they are drawn on top of the display at the bottom.

Nice idea but the AI is definitely too hard for me.
