This is a pretty interesting game, actually, it took me a little bit to figure out all the mechanics. Trying to balance eating stuff to survive with not getting too big was a challenge. The game starts out pretty difficult, I wish there were fewer things for the first 30s~ or so, and more of them were small."},{"author_name":"Sergey Mohov","author_uid":"9963","time":"Aug 28, 2012 @ 3:46pm","epoch":1346168460,"text":"Really neat take on the whole mass-consuming idea. Unfortunately, there is a stack overflow thing going on, so you can't play it for too long, but I'd really love to see a development of this concept."},{"author_name":"thewiseguy99","author_uid":"14421","time":"Aug 29, 2012 @ 2:52am","epoch":1346208420,"text":"I have found the next "Osmosis", loved that game and this is got the same feel. The "Excerpt from the Book of Prophecy" was both funny and cryptic enough that it made a puzzle while still offering adequate instructions (though I will note that I was pretty frustrated for the first 5 games when I hadn't realized what golds do)."},{"author_name":"Mach60KAS","author_uid":"5788","time":"Aug 29, 2012 @ 8:19pm","epoch":1346271240,"text":"That was pretty sweet, really reminded me of osmo."},{"author_name":"DaveDobson","author_uid":"10977","time":"Aug 29, 2012 @ 9:11pm","epoch":1346274360,"text":"Worked for me with Win64. Fun game with a familiar theme. The evolution theme isn't super strong, although you do grow and thus change some. The controls and object are fun; I liked navigating the green and yellow tide, although it was a bit hard with a trackpad mouse. The gameplay I think needs a little balance work; I often had nothing to eat at the start, while other times I had a lot of options and grew fast. The fact that your growth is so quick and unpredictable when you eat a larger guy, and that all the yellow guys are toxic, means that the game always ended very fast for me just when I was having a little success. But it was fun; obviously that level of polish (and maybe some additional complexity, like waves to survive) could come with more time to work. The word "shit" is pretty vulgar in American society, so I was surprised to see that featured so prominently, although I wasn't personally offended. I really liked the prophecy and intro part, too - very stylish. My best was about 15 seconds; I think I could have survived longer by eating more infrequently and then just dodging, but I didn't have a good feel for how long it took to starve. Nice job!"},{"author_name":"Porpentine","author_uid":"14425","time":"Aug 29, 2012 @ 9:21pm","epoch":1346274960,"text":"i like the scripture as game guide, i like the presentation, i love the extreme balancing act of the gameplay."},{"author_name":"diki","author_uid":"688","time":"Aug 29, 2012 @ 9:25pm","epoch":1346275200,"text":"This is fun! I like that touching bigger or poisonous blobs does not instantly kill you, but gives a bit of leeway, making navigation a lot easier.\r<br\/>Once I discovered that you can zip around almost unharmed when jerking the mouse fast enough, it even became a bit too easy ;)"},{"author_name":"science4cake","author_uid":"16607","time":"Aug 29, 2012 @ 9:29pm","epoch":1346275440,"text":"Great game! I love how sometimes I get so big, I fill the screen. Very cool!\r<br\/>\r<br\/>It looks like you made the font yourself as well!\r<br\/>\r<br\/>\r<br\/>You asked me on my game about static and stream sources in audio. To lower the memory footprint of the game, you want to keep most of the big files as stream (e.g. sounds you only use once and music) whereas sound effects you want stored in memory as static. The actual OS X lag problem is a threading issue native to the SDL interface in OS X, not a question of using static or stream :)"},{"author_name":"Ragzouken","author_uid":"13822","time":"Aug 29, 2012 @ 9:56pm","epoch":1346277060,"text":"Neat idea, but it feels too difficult - in the time it takes me to find a path through to something to eat, I've already shrunk too much :("},{"author_name":"Kuulog","author_uid":"10301","time":"Aug 30, 2012 @ 2:48pm","epoch":1346337780,"text":"Very simple, but fun little game. It'll tell you what you need to do.\r\n\r\n\r\nSOUND\r\nIf you do not want sound, use the command line argument \"nosound\". Not sure if this will work with the bundles, but it very well may.\r\n\r\nExample:\r\n\r\nlove .\/path\/to\/And\\ Thus\\ She\\ Spake.love nosound\r\n\r\n\r\nINPUT\r\nThis game works best with a mouse. Trackpads tend to be jerky because you have to keep picking up your fingers.\r\n\r\n\r\n-- INSTALLATION ------------------------\r\n\r\nAll of the bundles have been compressed into an archive container of some sort, so all you need to do with them is unzip to where you want them, and play!\r\n\r\nNOTE: For Ubuntu (and other distro) users, I apologize, I do not know enough about packaging apps in linux to really give bundling a shot. Perhaps for next LD, if I don't go back to the web!\r\n\r\nNOTE: For the windows x64 bundle, I cannot test it out since I do not have a 64 bit install. If anyone reports a problem, I'll just take the bundle down. If you don't see a bundle, I'd just recommend getting LOVE from their website (love2d.org).\r\n\r\nSome quick instructions for installing love (refer to love2d.org for full instructions):\r\n\r\nUBUNTU (PPA)\r\n- sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bartbes\/love-stable\r\n- sudo apt-get update\r\n- sudo apt-get install love\r\n\r\nOS X:\r\n- get https:\/\/bitbucket.org\/rude\/love\/downloads\/love-0.8.0-macosx-ub.zip\r\n- unzip and install into your applications directory\r\n- right click on And Thus She Spake.love, Open With -> Other...\r\n- check Always Open With and browse and select the love.app you just copied to your applications directory\r\n\r\nWINDOWS (32-BIT):\r\n- download and run installer: https:\/\/bitbucket.org\/rude\/love\/downloads\/love-0.8.0-win-x86.exe\r\n\r\nWINDOWS (64-BIT)\r\n- download and run installer: https:\/\/bitbucket.org\/rude\/love\/downloads\/love-0.8.0-win-x64.exe\r\n\r\nOTHER\r\n- You can get the source code, zipped versions for Windows (instead of an installer), and specific Ubuntu versions for various releases and for 32\/64-bit versions, just take a look at love2d.org<\/p>","title":"And Thus She Spake"}
