DGP: Space Lion by Yoni
Hey everyone! Yoni (the programmer) here. Over the weekend (September 1) I released a bugfix version. The gameplay is the same, but lots of annoying physics bugs were fixed. You should play that one! If you want to rate based on what we had by the deadline, that version's available too. :)
The website is much improved too, check it out: http://www.yonispants.com/DGP
-------
Space, the year 2014. DGP Space Lion arrived at planet Shetty following a report on a stolen vehicle. Minutes after arriving, he realized his spacepolice car was missing, most likely stolen by one of the local low-lifes. Stranded on a foreign world, he must now search the entire planet for his ride and get back home, to file a report. It's a dangerous world out there, filled with Gnorlms and Knarxals, known to be highly adaptable to any kind of weapon used against them. May the gods have mercy on their souls.
The enemies evolve quickly, and before long they will resist all your attacks! Try alternating weapons to beat your opponents.
This game and its absolutely accurate physics were inspired by Bollywood cinema.
Controls:
Arrow keys - move
A - punch
S - kick
D - use weapon
Q - next weapon
E - previous weapon
F - toggle fullscreen
If you find the game too hard, enter the cheat code LION to get 99 lives, full health, all weapons and type a digit between 1 and 8 to skip to that level.
NEW! Updated website - the game soundtrack is now available for download!

Really impressive graphics and soundwork. The actual game felt a bit uninspired although there seemed to be a lot of content. My playthrough got interrupted by a glitch of some sort, as after I died I got sent back to the start of the level and could no longer move my character around.
There was also an annoying issue on the screen not scaling properly on my widescreen monitor, so the window was always partially hidden.
It also crashed when I tried to change weapon.
I loved that crazy idea, even the name of the game is very awesome.
Good job! :)
If you like the game but find it too glitchy, we recommend that you at least use the cheat mode (type LION + level number) to see all 8 levels - each one is a different experience (especially level 5...)
COMING SOON! Due to popular demand - a bugfix will be released this weekend.
Problems: Once I lost a life I can not move anymore, need to play in full screen to see everything.
- gameplay Got a bit repetitive
-- lack of sound effects
-------Fixed to a LARGE windowed resolution!
Now for the gushing praise: I loved it! I think this may be the most memorable character out of this entire LD! Last time around we had the neckbeard snail from chambers' Recluse; this time it's DGP Space Lion! Loved the one-liners, the music (especially the Rickroll), the cartoony art style.
The only thing that could make this better would be some save points thoughout the level, because it's actually quite hard...
I believe I fixed the falling through platforms bug in the 2nd version. Did you play the 2nd version or the original?

A few small changes could probably make this an EXTREMELY fun game. Allowing jumping and shooting, speeding up the motion a little, and maybe a few more features besides "normal platform" vs. "unstable platform". Also a little more hinting for the blind jumps in the cave level wouldn't hurt.
I managed to get to the cave level without losing the game, after which I tried the cheat code. Still couldn't pass the cave level, and I feel cheating cheapened the remaining levels by being able to skip them and see all the weapons. Maybe a better way to encourage people to see all the content would be to make less "filler" levels (including the water one, sorry) and a checkpoint system for the harder ones.
But despite these points the fact remains that the game is solid and fun, and the atmosphere (music, sound, graphics, humor) is simply perfect.
The game is glitchy and pretty unforgiving (died at the end of an level that took me a few minutes and I'm back where I started again) but what a game.
