HumanTECH by minism
I developed this game on OSX and was running into lots of issues towards the end with audio. I never resolved everything, so just a heads up for OSX users. Sorry about that.
I am a LOT more satisfied with this game than my first entry. I was much more relaxed during the process, made better planning and time management decisions, and slept according to a planned schedule. As a result I typed about twice as many lines of code as in LD23 and much less error-prone code.
Everyone always asks if I'd like to continue a project after LD. Its appealing in one sense -- I like the theme and mechanics of this game, but I'm appalled at how messy the code gets so quickly. I think if I was ever going to "build upon" a LD entry it would be a rewrite.
Thanks to my brother for testing and letting me use his windows laptop basically on demand. And getting me stumptown coffee.
Enjoy HumanTECH!!

Not much to say, but good job.
Probably one of the most finished and enjoyable games I have played so far.
This game is remarkably complete - it's very tightly designed, the mechanics work, and the game is enticing. Graphics are great, controls are tight, sound is good - this is an exceptional entry into this competition! My only complaint is more mechanical - I'd much prefer arrow keys over i,j,k,l for shooting, but it's not a huge deal. Also the enemies would sometimes get stuck inside walls, and I'd have to punch them to death through the walls, which isn't the end of the world.
Awesome!
but the movement and attack keys should have defaulted to follow the angled tiles instead of straight to the sides
I was a bit unlucky, I ended up with poor speed for most of the game, which made progress a little slow. Once I got the blaster, I realized that speed let me dodge the guard's shots more easily.
I'd ask for a post compo version, but all that would be is some minor bug fixes ;)
It feels very like a finished product (except maybe from the enemies getting stuck). For some maybe too easy, but for me just right. Dieing isn't punished too hard so you are still feeling you can progress. Evolution not just a story, but also part of the gameplay. Good gameplay, good level design. One of the winners for me.
I just have one wish: to actually see the people I have freed, and maybe more of an ending.
