Rebellium by Anti
You're a dictator whom rule over a vast empire. But your people are not happy. A big civil war started and now it's just you vs the rebels. The rebels have a much larger army but lack supply and weapons. One big advantage you have is that you have excellent artillery which can destroy the rebel armies before they start fighting with yours. Command your army around the battlefield and expand your control to get a healthier army. But beware, the rebels are also expanding their areas of control and the more areas they control, the more people joins their armies. See the borders change over time like two shapes dancing around each other.
Controlls:
- Pan = Middle mouse button and drag
- Move army - Left mouse button
- Expand - Left mouse button
When it says move your army, just click on an area besides your army and it will move there. When it says expand, just click on an area adjacent to one of your own tiles. If your army dies or the rebels reach the capital then it's game over. You win by defeating the two rebel armies.
This is my 7th Ludum Dare and this is one of the games I'm most proud of. The quality is really high I think but the gameplay is a bit lacking.

Enjoyed the music. Start out a bit more zoomed out will help put things into perspective better. I do feel tit is missing something innovative that makes it different or have something to do with shape shifting. Still you did a great job. Ran perfectly on Windows.

Interesting concept and pleasant gameplay. Maybe with more time you could do something with more features. A solid entry. Well done ++

Middle mouse button is not a viable control. I'm on a trackpad. I don't have a middle button.

The game is too zoomed in on Windows, it makes it tough to play. I have been surprised by the mini-game part though. However, I hardly find a coherence with the theme, except maybe the shift between modes. Still, a good tactical game. :)

This is a good entry, although the game itself is a bit easy. I finished off the enemy in 13 turns. Theme is not there, but that's not that big of a problem. Good job!

Agreed with the too near zoom at start. The expansion part could be cool but right now is lacking any real consequence for the player. I liked the idea to make battles "real-time" though. Missed the theme a bit IMHO though.

I like the two screens, the turnbased "board" and then the switch to realtime. Sadly I have no middle mouse button, so couldn't continue to play as I couldn't see my army...

Reminded me of the old Defender of the Crown game on the amiga with the expansion. Liked how you added different gameplay once you attacked. Did have an issue with the middle mouse button at times and wish there was an alt keyboard option.

Nice idea switching between two different game modes. The game was rather unchallenging though. I tried to loose on purpose and still vanquished the rebels.
