Eve by Kralle
Eve is a game/simulator where you create a species.
Try experimenting with different setting and see how your species evolve.
When the action timer finishes a loop the lifeforms will try to make an action. If they are next to another lifeform they will either try to fight, mate or do nothing. This depends on they preferences, which can be seen by holding the mouse over a lifeform. The preferences change when the lifeforms succeed in fighting or mating or by changing the preferences of the simulation in the create world screen.
Programming: Flixel
Music: Acoustic guitar
Boost: Pizzas,beers and coffee

But I really struggle to get them to survive. It feels like I'm missing a bit of control somewhere.
I wish I knew more about how the game worked, though - am I supposed to dig out the green blocks (which I assume are food), or leave them there for the creatures to eat them? I tried both methods, and everyone died of hunger really fast, regardless of what I did.
I feel like besides that, this game is quite interesting, for something made in 48 hours. Definitely do something with it post-comp; I'd love to see this idea further fleshed out.
Too bad, since the game seems to be an interesting blend of things like Dungeon Keeper, The Sims or Dwarf Fortress. Also it seems like you have produced a quite impressive amount of work in here, given the minimap, etc. So what you came with in 48hrs is pretty cool, only the game is not very fun to play overall.
For the next LD you'll join, my advice would be to take some time to put yourself a bit more in the shoes of the player - and maybe make some friends test the game before the 48 hours end - and I'm pretty sure you will come up with an awesome game.
