ContraEvolution by the.vaber

[raw]
made by the.vaber for LD24 (JAM)
A game based on the "Evolution" theme - though evolution is not exactly desirable in this one - basically, you need to prevent the creatures (bacteria or other nasty.. stuff) from breeding (and thus evolving) in order to survive - well, you won't survive anyway, but the goal is to try it for as long as possible - time is your score.

This is mine (code + graphics) and my brother's (audio) first Ludum Dare entry and we're looking forward for the next LD (perhaps even with some blog posts).

You can reach me (Vaclav Patejdl, or "vaber") on twitter @the_vaber, through Skype (the.vaber) or e-mail (the.vaber@gmail.com) in case you have any urgent questions/... that can't be resolved through the ludumdare.com portal.

PS: please excuse any kind of bad english either in the game itself or in this brief description

nice visuals, fitting audio, starts slow but gets hard pretty fast. Liked the concept. Well done!

Neat! I like the look of the bacteria as it becomes more powerful.

The base idea and the mood are good, the bacteria looks more like marble, they need some blob fx...

Nice entry! It's pretty atmospheric. I agree that the bacteria looks a bit like marble, but menacing at the same time.

Definitely add projectiles next time - it got rather tedious having to constantly run around and cockblock all the rainbow asteroids.

Great graphics. The gameplay is a bit tough on a touchpad. Bacteria should look a bit more... organic.

Very nice visuals and intriguing style - I didn't quite pick up on how to play though?

Wonderful graphics and sound, giving it a great overall mood. The core mechanic is quite cool, but the setup felt a bit futile from the player's PoV: Would be good to have a bit more variation or development in the gameplay (e.g. the player getting stronger over time, or occasional powerups).

What a fascinating idea. I really like the graphical style, and the ambient sounds are just perfect. I wish there was a stronger 'win' scenario (or possibility!).

Great graphics and sound. The game tends to break down into a cycle of "run around the edge and zap everything", bet even then, it's still satisfying and fun. Definitely worth expanding on this into a fuller game.

Hey man, amazing graphics, but I think the gameplay is a little strange. Anyway is the great entry. Congrats.

Brilliant. Kindof an inverse of Osmos. Extremely difficult though.

I just realized that I'm chaperoning bacteria. Hey you kids, I see what you're doing, get away from each other!
