Stevie Asteroid Rescues the Hovercredits by KHANanaphone
I made this game using tools I had basically no experience with at all other than going through a few tutorials. My idea here was to take a simple game premise (dodge red things and collect a green thing) and allow the player to see my progress as I kept learning and the game kept evolving.
So what I did was make a level, then make a bunch of improvements to everything (controls, features, drawings), then make another level displaying those improvements. I'm hoping that the effect this creates is interesting to others. I'm most happy with the animations and some of the drawings, because I'm not graphically inclined and this is not something I've really ever done.
Uses XNA and .Net 4.0. I wasn't sure of the best way to package it, but it worked on a few computers so I'm hoping there's no technical problems. I couldn't figure out how to distribute the game without an installer (it just kept crashing, probably some prerequisites thing).
Special note: you can duck under the horizontal bullets in stage 3, I suspect some people might miss that.

The audio was okay but got repetitive, and it didn't loop unless you die/move on (found out by accident).
Graphics were a bit weird at the menu but decent after that.
Overall though its fun, and fairly well executed.
However, evolution of the game is nice for both the graphics and for uploading game mechanics.
I would like to be able to finish the game to see how look like the last level.
My only real complaint is that the platforming physics are a little wonky...
