Microraptor by robcozzens

[raw]
made by robcozzens for LD24 (COMPO)
I didn't get nearly as much done as I wanted to.
I'm happy with the model and animation, but the gameplay is just running around a boring level... :( sorry!

Animation is pretty solid. and I kinda like the polygon-terrain, although I'm not sure whether that's on purpose :)

Sucks that you didnt get more content in. I spent a good few minutes just jumping around trying to fly. Hope you continue with this.

NOTE: Don't give a https:// link, the Unity Plugin won't load for some people (me).

I wish this had more, the flying was really satisfying.

Like the gliding and running around, it's very smooth. Nice level formation too.

I know the feeling of running out of time :)

A shame you didn't get more done, it would have been interesting to see how you'd use this model.

For some reason can't run this, even though other unity games work. Just claims I have no unity plugin.

I've always seen this happen to 3d games... IMHO 3d assets take way too much time for such a short competition. I'd love to see you work on this game after LD. It could turn into something really solid!

I would have loved to see what you could have done with this in the jame (having 24h more time)

I'm impressed, despite lacking gameplay

Btw. to all chrome users: To the right of your URL bar there's a shield that you can click on and make chrome allow the plugin to load.

So you did the model, the scene and the game, but there is no game logic ...nice one anyway

Seems like a nice start, I like your dinosaur model alot! Some wing flapping action would be nice.

You were wrong by saying you didn't have time do anything fun, I thought the game was pretty fun :D The flying pose of the bird was hilarious and especially when I ran around for a minute before realizing there isn't any other content in the game. I had a laugh, thanks for the game. :) Keep at it.

I really liked the movement, flying and animation, it's just too bad you didn't have time to really build a game around it! But thumbs up for the amazing effort, man! Keep it up and I'm sure you'll be able to do a lot more next time :D!

Probably the most amazing 3D game of the contest I've seen so far. I would have loved to see it finished! Hope you keep working on that.

Didn't know raptors had such flexible legs haha! I agree with the others, I looks nice, too bad there's nothing more. I'd be curious to know what the original plan was.

Pretty cool, despite being unfinished. I agree with Wan, what was it meant to become?

P.S. I think you should give my game another try. From your comment, you didn't seem to understand exactly how it works. ;)

The 3d model is great. A pity you couldn't complete a game.

I love dinosaurs and you made a great model with nice animations.

Don't take this the wrong way, but this probably should of resulted in a 'throw in the towel' blog post and not been submitted. If you had done something like scattering collectibles around the level with a timer and a simple game loop I could consider it a full entry.

Thanks for all the great comments.
If I had more time (or come up with this sooner) I would have it where you have to eat enough to have energy to mate, and then find another microrapter to ensure that your DNA survives at least one more generation.

I don't like the mouse look, I think it would have been better if the camera were a bit more automatic. Also while the raptor is in flight, a little roll action would go a long way to making this game feel more organic. Other than that running and flying around was pretty enjoyable.
