Space Mayham by DevWouter
CONTROLS
* Use WASD to move the ship.
* Left mouse shoots primary gun
* Right mouse fires homing missiles.
** KNOWN ISSUES AND WORKAROUNDS **
The game crashes if you use a low powered graphics card. Switching to a more powerful graphics card solves the problem.
Enemies can drop powerups. One powerup will improve your primary gun (firerate and bullets in single shot after four upgrades) and the other will improve your homing missiles (tracking and amount).
Every 30 seconds a new wave of enemies will spawn making your life misserable and each wave will be stronger than the previous one. If you kill the last enemy a new group of enemies will appear arround you. There are two enemies: Gunner (which shoots the blue bullet) and Hunter (which shoots homing missile).
*Requirements*
- Windows Vista or 7 (Windows XP and Windows 8 might work but are untested).
- x86 (32 bit) or x64 (64 bit) machine
- OpenGL 2.0 graphics card.
*Updates*
2012-08-27 23:22 - Updated the internal name of the game and installer.
2012-08-28 23:50 - Updated the description on the site based on the feedback of others (thanks guys!) and added the timelapse.
2012-08-30 00:30 - Added a bug entry form and requirements

Off the bat, the enemies are small and dim, and that makes it a strain to see them. That, plus their small size, the imprecision of the weapons, and the extremity ofthe player movement compared to the enviroment, and it can be frustrating killing lone enemies. And given there's no cost to firing both weapons, I'm not sure why they're on both keys, it mostly seems to serve to make me press two buttons instead of one.
On top of that I don't really think the basic upgrade system is enough to really make it an evolution game, unless there's a lot more going on I'm not noticing.
A hp bar or something would've been nice also ^^
But good work =)
Fun game, atmosphere would have been improved with the addition of a background and perhaps some larger enemies but I can understand the reasoning that by having smaller enemies you can fit more on screen, yup?
Could have done with some more enemy types but the basis of a good game is there, just needs some more fleshing out, cool bg music and vocoder action also there :)
Enemies where kinda small, hard to hit.
Found that you could just strafe in a circle and not get hurt.
The game does include some "evolving" but that is not shown by much. In the original design we made it so that the player would absorb the power of fallen enemies and unlock weapons and more powers (including speed, but I guess we won't put it in there).
@Fsmv: I'm really sorry for that. Normally I would have included an option to start the game with different resolution, but the gameplay required a higher resolution than the 800x600 we started with. Next time we will take this in to account.
@Bvanschooten and @tomhunt: If you use a laptop with two graphics card, try to use the higher one. It does require OpenGL 2.0 and we noticed that some of the intel cards were having problems, switching to the external graphics card solved the problem.
After a slow start this got HARD-CORE...!!! Loved it!!
Blowing up a ship has the best sound!
Brilliant!

Tried everything I could, but still couldn't get it working!
I downloaded the "Windows (ZIP)".
Also, it might be more helpful to name the game something other than "no_setup" so that it doesn't get lost in my downloads.
I like the music, wish it was more varied, would love to see you guys expand on that!
To the developers: I suggest you put this in the description.
"can't run gametemplate.exe" when lauched directly on winrar
"gametemplate.exe is not a valid win32 application" when launched from windows
Also I found that the sprites were much too small for me to be able to see them well, and this detracted a bit from the gameplay.
