Alpha Is a game which evolves itself as you play it.

The first level is Alpha, a game devoid of art, placeholder graphics and a sea of cornflower blue.

The second level is Beta, simple graphics along with some MS Painted background skills (or lack of).

The final level is Evolution, You must see off the invasion and follow it up by destroying the mothership to save earth.



I did run out of time with it, only a couple of bugs I could find and didn't have time to put in the audio. I also had plans to make it available through a browser using JSIL. I might post a link up later if i can work out this JSIL malarky, just to make the game easier to play (I'd rather play a browser based game than download something and i'm sure you would too).

Nice take on evolution with the difficulty and the graphics improving after each wave / level.

The final boss graphic must have taken a long while to create, look prett cool too! If it had some sound it would help enhance the immersion but overall a solid entry in just 48 hours, nice!

We initially thought the game had malfunctioned on the first level, but then realised your take on the theme! Very innovative. The game itself was obviously very basic, and I would look forward to seeing what else you could do with this idea.

And congrats on making a game that most people will actually be able to complete :)

Wicked man. At first I was like, really...? But then as the game... evolved... Nice one!

No music or sfx? Never mind, still way cool!

Nice concept, I liked it, though I spent a lot of the time looking at the bottom 1/4 of the screen. (which was a shame as the final boss graphic is great). :)

This was neat. I wasn't sure what to think during the first stage, but I liked the evolution of graphics. Nice.

Meh. The gameplay is just not interesting enough. The concept has promise, though. Playing the same level three times with merely "evolving" graphics just isn't too interesting -- try evolving the mechanics. It's a good idea, but just kinda falls flat here. I'd encourage you to continue to develop it and make the play mechanics stronger.

Fun idea, with evolving graphics and stuff. The later graphics are really beautiful, especially the mothership. I got no sounds - not sure if I was supposed to. Gameplay was rather simplistic, but still engaging. I liked seeing the boss health and player health indicator - very useful, and something most LD games don't do. Nice work.

Really cool. The final level was quite polished, I was pretty shocked to see the boss :) You should keep working on this, put some audio in, etc.
