Well, here we are, at the end of another Ludum Dare. And boy did we do much better this time around (compared to the last one).

The last game we made together was very much sub-par at best. We felt much better about this game. We all worked really hard on it, and we hope you can tell.

Having said that - we didn't get to finish everything in that we wanted to - AND it's buggy!!! First, you can't die - you just continue to loose points - second, the enemies only attack you once you attack them.

So, without further ado, here is our Ludum Dare game, ThroughOutTheAges.

There are four eras in the game. Each equipped with different enemies and characters. Collect enough EVO points to advance through the ages. The goal of the game is to defeat all the enemies and evolve into the other ages.

Keys - arrows or wasd to move around - 'E' a shortcut to evolve.

Mouse click on the enemies to fight - and to pick up items.

'I' is your inventory. You can equip items and take health potions.

Not everything is polished (and there are lots of bugs and missing pieces!!) - but we hope you enjoy it none the less!

Thanks

I was wondering why my health bar wasn't centered... turns out I had -250 health and the game was rendering my negative hit points off to the left.

I'm not really sure what to make of this, it seems very buggy and unfinished, and I'm not sure what it's supposed to be. Sorry.

Well I finished it after figuring out how to play. Although a bug where I didn't 'lose' with -650 hp was the only way I could play the game, and enemies only seemed to attack when I attacked them first and killing enemies was the only way I could get evo. The 10 second loop got old pretty fast, but I do like how you had a different one for each era.

I like the character art, especially the knights.

Needs some sort of explanation at the start, apart from that. Fun Fun FUn FUN!

Good game with lots of blood (when killing an enemy) :) It's a little buggy, it slows down when opening and closing the inventory.
And really fits the theme.

Well I keep trying to get further in it. but i just keep evolving. Like before I get a chance to attack anyone

The characters all look very good, the music would be nice if the loops were longer and having each level as an evolution stage was good. The short-cut to evolution was useful to see the later stages. Equipping items is a bit buggy.

As you've said, there are a number of bugs. Disregarding these, I found the game to be pretty boring. The levels were large and sparse, and killing all of the enemies without dying seemed impossible.

That aside, I really liked the evolution premise. Keeping the controls the same but going one leap at a time into the future was cool.

Game play and controls were a bit hard to get used to but when I figured it out the game was fun. I liked the graphics and sound too.
