Great work on the graphics. I'm also impressed with the apparent size of the game. Controls are lacking a bit, and the shield is pretty pointless since the sword can (awesomely) deflect projectiles. Anyway, well done, looking forward to the timelapse on this one.

Looks like the Steel Sword does zero damage, possibly.

The controls need some work. Make the player slide instead of getting stuck on collision. Also it was a bit boring roaming around only to find a dead end.... Other than that nice graphics, and kudos on putting so much content.

Nice game, but this doens't look like it was made for the ludum dare. What does it have to do with evolution?

Lots of content, nice graphics. I don't see how it fits with the theme really.

The story was going to tie into it a lot more. As usually there wasn't nearly enough time, so I didn't get a chance to add anything beyond the initial text at the start.

Wow, so much content and tilemap details! Nice zelda-like replica. I see you've used particles too, that certainly adds a nice touch of "eye gasm'" :D

The graphics and controls are amazing. It also runs very fast, even on my laptop. Great game, how, on earth, did you make all this content in 48 hours?

This game is cool and really evil. I so wanted to see the end.

Great game, looks great. I agree shield seemed pointless, but had a blast playing it.

Have you used ice/snow-tiles before? If not: Woo! Progress! :P

Nice work pn graphics and gameplay. It suffers a bit from a lack on in-game-instructions(which I would've preferred, though it is right below the game), and the fact I have to bend my hand to reach the Z-key in the middle of the keyboard (european layout)

Loled at the countless Zelda references and anagrams. Really good graphics and mood. I think the controls could have a better feel to them, as the game doesn't flow naturally!

Good game!

Very, very, nice. Zelda clone. :D It's amazing work for 48 hours. I love everything about it. Can't wait to see it expanded! One of the best I've played from LD24, so kudos to you.

I liked the look of the trees. The flute was a fun dynamic as well.

Amazing entry! Cool to see someone else making a zelda style game. You definitely got more done on yours! It's insane to think you did all of that in 48 hours. Really envious of your quick pixel skills!

Not that related to the theme, but very impressive work for just 48 hours. As feedback, the movement felt a bit awkward, as I had trouble navigating narrow passages in the scenery without getting stuck into objects.

As always you built a HUGE world :) Nice game, but I would have preferred more different monsters / items and less time walking around.

how did you make such a huge game in 48h ?
I'm impressed

great stuff - loved it.
the graphics & controls could use a bit more work but this is criticism on a high level, well done

Great game, could be better if it was grid-based - would make attacking and avoiding enemies easier. Lots of character otherwise!

Very nice engine. Great spriting too. Music is good but gets rather repetative. I'm very impressed you got all that done in 2 days, 2 thumbs up for the effort man.

Skimping a lot on theme relevance though? I don't see a single thing relevant to the theme.

+ I like Zelda-like games
+ good graphics and music, kinda hard to believe you managed to do all this in only 48 h

- there's not a lot of evolution going on

A worthy Legend-of-Zelda-like game. My only problem : the sword hit box is too small...

WOW! I don't get all the negative nancies in the comments, I thought this was amazing! Only thing I would wish for is to be able to move while blocking. But still, great job!

Nice game and a lot to explore. Nice that you implemented multiple mechanics like the "ocarina".

I'm struggling with the controls a bit. After some minutes I didn't want to fight anymore and dodged the enemies instead. There is a too high log of time between a swordattack and the ability to move on. Secondly you can't hit enemies diagonal.

Graphics and music/sounds are good. Nice job (but doesn't fit the theme at all...).

I loved it! Scouring the map for everything made it a lot of fun. The game has a really good feel, the colors and graphics were cool, the flute effects and particles all worked together well. This is the third of your entries that I've played (Arzea and Faelanx are the others) and I gotta say each new one gets more enthralling and addictive to play.

Wow! A stunning amount of content for the 48 hour contest. The controls and graphics are great - it really feels like a super Nintendo era Zelda clone. As you said, the game lacks direction, but even still it was easy enough to find my way around. It doesn't really have anything to do with the theme, but whatever, it's a lot of fun. Honestly not much would be needed to make this into a complete package - great work! This is really fantastic, certainly one of the best entries that I have seen.

Amazing game and wonderful work! I've spent a long time playing this already and have explored all the biomes, though maybe not all of the terrain itself.

There were only two things that I disliked about it at all. The music didn't take long to get repetitive, but I'm sure that's why you added a "mute" option. Thank you for that!
Also, I found some problems with collision where I would get stuck trying to fit through a small gap (between trees, or on the ramp areas between terrain levels).

A coupe of things I noticed: I was able to get the diamond shield right after I got the hammer, since pools of lava can be destroyed with the sword.
Also, the blue and yellow slimes were immune to both the diamond and steel swords for me, so I had to switch to wooden again whenever I wanted to kill one. Those last two things didn't detract from my enjoyment of the game at all though.

The pixel art is great, especially the variation on the biomes! I loved the sound effects, too - would have given a higher audio rating if not for the music.
Overall I loved the feel of it and was very impressed with the scope. Awesome job! :D

I am absolutely clueless how you managed to create a game with this much content and visual polish in this short amount of time. I'd imagine creating all the maps alone would take ages.
Looking forward to the finished, post competition version!

Always look forward to games from you Arkeus! Very polished and love the sheer scale of the game. Only complaint would be the collisions, I keep getting caught at the corners of objects. Overall, fantastic job!

I really liked it, brought me back. So much content! I used more than an hour on this. No innovation points though, because, yeah nothing new here. ;) I missed a map in-game... but after being stuck trying to find the hammer, I found out there was a map in the description on the site, and I completed the game after that :D diamond sword and diamond ring and all hearts.

Bugs I noticed:
- Steel sword doesn't damage Bomb Turtles
- Diamond sword doesn't damage Slimes (at least blue, haven't tested the others)
- Sometimes slimes walk places they shouldn't, like when there's a wall they just walk through it.
I also once pushed a Bomb Turtle into the water and it crawled around there :p

Good luck with making it a bigger game.

Nice game.

Here is a head's up on a bug. I managed to get out of environment then crash the game. To do it, start at the map-tile that is one up and two to the right of the bottom-left map-tile on your world map. Now that you are there, go left towards part of the coast that is on the border of the map-tile. You'll end up in the water.

Hope that helps :)

Great graphics, huge world and a surprising number of similarities to a Zelda game. While that is a huge achievement for 48 hours, I do have to make some constructive criticism: it doesn't rank highly on the innovation that could have been a lot higher if you brought in something new and in the theme as well if you made a semi dynamic landscape or enemies. Still, I realise that those features would have been time demanding to implement and I haven't seen a game yet that has managed to fit all the categories. So its more a suggestion for what you could do post compo, or for future competitions.

Nice game but the world is just way too big for the amount of actual unique content and I got tired of exploring at random. The graphics are nice the game feels ok and I think it would have been great on a much smaller map.

nice engine and really nice Zelda clone. The graphics are amazing - nice work!

But yes - the theme is not really identifiable so people could believe you created it before LD.
