Monster Bros. by toaster

[raw]
made by toaster for LD25 (JAM)
Monster Bros. is a retelling of a classic story of heroes and villains in twine. Made in about two hours. Every other idea I had for this jam failed. Hope you enjoy this anyway.

If anyone knows a way to make this available online using Weebly, or dropbox or google sites or something like that could post a message, I would be much obliged. All I can do is give you option of downloading the html file.

Thank you for playing,
toaster

This is really cool. I could host it on twinehub.weebly.com. It would have the sidebar on the right of the screen, but it would be online, on its own page. But it's pretty easy to create a site on Weebly and create a custom html field, then just paste in the source code from the game. But you have to make sure you have a layout that doesn't have elements overlapping the Twine text. Do you want me to upload it?

Actually, here you go: http://twinehub.weebly.com/monsterbros.html
Just let me know if you get other hosting and/or you want me take it down :)

This was interesting, the writing was pretty solid. I appreciated how it was written to justify each character as the villain. My only issue with this was that it wasn't much of a game. There were only i think 2 times where it could branch and immediately end. Was more just a story that you clicked through for each page.

Haha, nice! It took me a while to find out who the hero is - actually, I only did one page before the end of the first part. Reading on now...

Okay, I'm through! Barely any branching, but I don't think it's needed for this story. I love the new story layers each character brings - and especially the twist it gives to the inspirational origin you obviously had. Things are not as they seem, hu?

Well done, toaster, well done!

Okay, this is the game* that best convey the theme!

*It actually fells like a story... there's few decisions, and only two of those change the outcome (with gameover).

Getting to see the other characters perspective was interesting.

Thanks for the feedback. The main reason there were no real decisions was because of my unfamiliarity with Twine. I would like to make a bigger version of this where choices affect the outcome of the game in ways greater than just a game over.
