Boomerang Pong by FanieG

[raw]
made by FanieG for LD35 (COMPO)
Pong played with a boomerang, by shapeshifting paddles on a soccer-like field of battle. Score 4 goals before your opponent to win. 2 Player game, played on a single keyboard. Although, due to freaky boomerang physics you should be able to play by yourself.

Fun game! I played it for about 20 minutes. The controls are a bit weird, but you get used to them.

Think I left half my brain on that field...

Took a while to get that it's the boomerang doing all the shifting and to be honest, goals were more lucky based than anything else, but ok, it does what it should do I guess!

Interesting take on it, no idea where all that came from but kudos :)

It would be great to see a way to counter the chaos that comes out of the changing shapes plus the boomerang. Also, I would consider how these mechanics could be applied to a non-standard context.

This is a fun game. nice twist on pong. its not too clear how the shaped affect the boomerang.

I didn't feel in control as the player. The boomerang was too erratic imo.

Fun game, enjoyed the multiplayer component!
Not certain, but it didn't look like changing shape had any real effect

Not bad by any means but I do dislike games that are 2 player with no AI option for LD, to difficult to test when there is nobody around to help (which is always). Playing by myself wasn't really great. Needed sound, even crappy sound would have been great but I understand how time can get away.

Conceptually I like what I saw though!

I'm trying to figure out what determines the boomerang movement. It looks like it is being attracted by the players. Is it attracted to one shape and not the other?Well done on your first ludum dare, it only gets better from here :)

Very interesting boomerang physics! I had hard time trying to get it to go where I wanted, though, and it was hard to say how the shapeshifting affected the gameplay. Still, very nice!
