IAO by Rafael Sales

made by Rafael Sales for LD26 (COMPO)
You need to evolve your polygon, but this mission won't be easy at all!

I strongly recommend to see the help menu and play with sound. Enjoy!

Curti. Principalmente a música! Só ficou meio difícil de ver se vinha triangulo ou traço e por onde, as vezes precisa de um pouco de sorte. Valeu!

Really great game. Your strong point was definitely innovation. Very nice music and really hard. Congratz.

Thanks dudes! The game is really hard, but after some minutes you realize tricks to evolve your polygon. In fact, the Pentagon level is insane! :)

This is an awesome idea and well implemented but sooooooo hard. It totally rocked the theme :) Definitely one of the better entries i've played! The only nitpick i have is that the music, while catchy, didn't seem to fit with the graphics or gameplay to me. Overall it's an outstanding game though - nice work!

Really really cool, had fun, could get to Square so far. I'll try to finish it later (is there an end?).

I really like that the game is really freaking hard, and I think you can explore it really well in a Super hexagon-esque kind of way.

I really liked the song, but I don't know if it fits.

Great exploration of theme. Congrats.

It's very very hard! Even after reading help and thinking I got it, I couldn't get to better shapes. Interesting & minimalist concept!

The music and sounds fit the concept very well. It is rather catchy to keep on toggling to collect/avoid stuff. Challenging game!

Wow, really nice concept! Great game and well fit to the theme!
I guess the level difficulties are scalating really quickly, though. I missed some sort of health to check the progression to switch geometric forms.
Really cool and well ambiented music. Congratulations! 5 star overrall for me! ;)

Concept is great but game is buggy. Collision detection is inadequate...
Good game, anyway :^)

Great music. good mechanic. You're right, you better read the instructions :) I found it very hard because the pieces move too fast? Every time I leveled up I lost that level a few times before maintaining it. Made it to square and stopped.

@SaintHeiser: I agree with you about the collision. It's sth that I'll improve asap.

@GeorgeBroussard: My objective was create a really hard game, but now I know that game needs adjustments in progress to improve the experience.

This was fun enough as just a line, but the evolving aspect made it even better. I kind of wish you had a healthbar instead of a timer though, so that skilled players could theoretically keep on playing forever. That's just a minor thing though that didn't really subtract from the experience.

Marvelously crafted game right here, folks. Give it a whirl.

It's actually more fun than it looks! Gameplay is basic but solid.

The dots hitboxes could be bigger and/or the rotation speed could be faster: it would decrease the difficulty a bit, and the frustration of not being able to catch a figure because you can't turn fast enough, but without reducing the fun. Right now, I was kinda frustrated.

But that's balance and tweaking, almost nitpicking for a 48h entry. Apart from that, that's one of the best entries I've played so far. Especially, I can't believe you managed to create such a catchy and fitting tune in so little time without cutting other things. Your concept is elegant, original and well made, and you used the theme almost magically. Congratulations.

One of the best entries for me so far, just because so many things about it were right:
The jazzy music, the minimal but nice graphics, the originality,
All in all a great package.

Full marks for innovation and theme! Great idea that could use some balancing, but you have a really neat concept that I can see becoming very successful with the right additions. Maybe some kind of indicator for what is about to appear... like a brief flash in the area that the object is either going to start or end up. And maybe timing based spawning with the music to get the player into a rhythm of being able to spin the shape and turn on/off the outline for bouncing or capturing. Again, great innovation! Good job!
