The infinite-loop-death was annoying, but unintentional. Didn't have much to do with minimalism, but could be a good game with a little bit more rounding-off of sharp edges, if not necessarily polish. The roughness was an appealing quirk to the game, but it would be great if it was fully functional."},{"author_name":"SeanAtr0n","author_uid":"6835","time":"Apr 30, 2013 @ 5:01am","epoch":1367297760,"text":"<3 the boss fights, gots me some flippers and a snorkel but then I died randomly even though I had hearts and that blasted wizard who I thought was my friend didn't help me rise from my grave."},{"author_name":"Ryusui","author_uid":"12635","time":"Apr 30, 2013 @ 5:07am","epoch":1367298120,"text":"An interesting idea, but too broken for my tastes."},{"author_name":"SonnyBone","author_uid":"1365","time":"Apr 30, 2013 @ 6:50am","epoch":1367304300,"text":"RUDE BEAR RETURNS!!!! You have to be close, because you have small arms. You can get the harpoon to get range.\r\n\r\nThe heart-warming prequel to everyone's favourite bear game is here. In Rude Bear Rising you take control of a confused bear, swimming around an underwater labyrinth to defeat an evil wizard and save the world. \r\n\r\nAlthough the wizard can potentially be fought by Rude Bear immediately, it's possible to search for items to make the battle more survivable. The items are found in chests, which are guarded by fierce enemies.\r\n\r\nIt started out Limbo inspired and turned into a free roam Mega Man homage.\r\n\r\nControls:\r\nA & D - Move left and right.\r\nSpace - swim\r\nLeft click - Attack (And aim with mouse with harpoon gun)\r\nE to enter boss worlds.\r\n\r\nThere's also a glitch where you get stuck in like.. infinite gameover. If you game over you'll have to restart, I'm afraid.\r\n\r\nLabyrinth monsters:\r\nSpitter - Hops and spits.\r\nCornelius - A giant eye.\r\nImmortal Crab - Generally pretty happy about the whole situation. (Not quite as immortal as the name might suggest).\r\nStalac-might - A stalactite with a vengeance.\r\nSwarnile - Part sword, part shark, part rhino, part crocodile. All horrifying.\r\n\r\nBoss monsters:\r\nDiscover them for yourself! Their names are:\r\nSmashy, Skate, RadFish, Cunning and The Wizard.\r\n\r\nUnlockable powerups:\r\nSnorkel, Harpoon, Flippers, Armour, Torpedo\r\n\r\nCode, vector art and music by Alex Rose.\r\nPixel art by Antony Dewar.\r\nConcept and sound effects by both of us.\r\n\r\nThe full development cycle was streamed here:\r\nhttp:\/\/www.twitch.tv\/vorpalgames\r\n\r\nRude Bear 1:\r\nhttp:\/\/www.ludumdare.com\/compo\/ludum-dare-25\/?action=preview&uid=19499\r\n\r\nWould've liked to have added 3 more forms to the final boss, but alas, there was a lot I couldn't put in.\r\n\r\nEdit: If I'd realised it ended 2 hours after I though it did, I could've added a proper game over\/credits etc.\r\n\r\nBut oh well.<\/p>","title":"Rude Bear Rising"}
