Falling Sky by Kirstine

[raw]
made by Kirstine for LD35 (JAM)
My first game ever, and a very simple one at that. The sky is falling! Grab the purple diamonds to score points, but be careful of the rocks, they will hurt you. Heal yourself with the green gems. You can switch size with SPACEBAR and move with the left and right arrow. When you're big, you will gain a lot of points, but you're easier to hit. But beware, every time you switch, the speed increases! Try to survive for as long as possible...

A clever application of the shifting theme to a catching game. I had fun. Congrats on finishing the game!

Well done, nice game. Like the graphics, game is a little too easy. I enjoyed it.

Heheh, simple but I had fun. I didnt think the shape shift would have much impact but it was satisfying to go large to easily collect a stream of gems before switching back to small. But my eyes are hurting from the speed once it got faster. Great effort for a first game.

Great first effort. It reminded me of one of those early addictive iphone games. I felt that it was a bit easy, if you were the small thing you could survive easily and there was so much health that there didn't feel like much of risk if you did get hit. I'd like to try a version where it's 1 hit = death!

Clever mechanic! Game is quite addictive :) Some music and maybe adding some more coin types over time would help to spice it up :D

Keep up the good work!

Well done for a first game!

I would recommend slowly increasing the difficulty, even without shifting, as currently it is quite easy to hit the gems at the starting speed even when small, so you can just stay like that forever.

Also, always put the score on the game over screen for a score based game, you don't have time to look at that when you're scrambling to survive with your last bit of health.

Good scope for a first game :)
I got ~5000 points.
The character sprite has a really different art style from the rest though, try to be more consistent about it next time and it will look a lot better^^
