Box Catcher by voidstar69

[raw]
made by voidstar69 for LD26 (COMPO)
A simple quick-reaction game made in about 8 hours.

This is a world filled with moving, shrinking and expanding boxes.

Hover your mouse cursor over boxes to stop them from shrinking or expanding. You need to prevent the boxes from colliding or vanishing.

Contains 8 ordinary levels (1 to 8), and then these repeat as faster and faster meta-levels (A-1 to F-8).

You gain score for succeeding on a level, and lose score for failing a level. Your scoring multiplier increases with meta-level!

simple but interesting puzzle. A bit too fast as often a level would end before I could even finish reading what the goal for the level was.

I miss music in the game. But it is simple and funny!

This game is rough with a trackball :) Good use of theme. Sound would have been nice though.

Crashed on level C-3 right after I had beaten it. Very cool concept, you managed to cram in a lot of gameplay for only working for 8 hours. It's a shame that it lacks the polish you could've given it if you used more time: sounds, music, more play-testing, etc. because I think the game would've really benefitted.

The gameplay sort of reminds me of a twist on the "wario ware" titles and similar titles. Quick, rapid levels, where you have to read the description quickly and then react. The descriptions themselves had their own humor which added to the aesthetic. Well done, but maybe plan to use a little more time next round? haha

Surprisingly fun little puzzle game. I think it'd be interesting if you took out that level descriptions so that players would have to figure out how to solve the level on top of doing it correctly and on time.

Cool little puzzle game. Reminded me of Wario Ware. Which is never a bad thing :)

This a great sortie of small mechanics that are challenging and fun. Great minimalist approach. I would give some warm-up time before each level, so we could have some time to read the proposed objective.
