Gardener in Minimalism Spring by tcstyle

[raw]
made by tcstyle for LD26 (COMPO)
Flashgame.

The start page of the game states the rules.
* Some advice:
- figure out the number of identical seeds in a row and place accordingly
- beware of spreading mushrooms, they won't grow on plants

My first try with HaxePunk.

Sort of a "zen garden" feeling to it. Perfect match to the theme

Interesting concept, however I couldn't really figure out how to separate the plants.

Confusing and relaxing at the same time. I too didn't really know how I should be separating the plants

Separating means not to place the two different ones close to each other.

Difficult! I really like the "zen" feel. :)

My favorite entry so far. It was rather difficult to figure it out at first, but once you get it, it's surprisingly fun! (And it took me quite some time to get a good layout going. :p)

I like the graphics and the sound. The game itself is maybe a little too minimal. I beat it in only a couple of tries.

A relaxing gardening/puzzle game.

The tricky bit is figuring out when it switches between each plant type. After that the puzzle becomes how to cram everything in the tight space.

Felt like there was a little bit of a delay after I clicked.

@Gremlin Delay is probably caused by triggering on mouse release.

Enjoyable! The ambient sound really contributes to the relaxing vibe. I had the same problem as others with not fully comprehending the mechanics, but it was soothing just to play around.

As a game (rather than just a zen "experience") I do think it would work better if it was clear what plant was coming next. Did I miss something, or is there really no way to tell?

It is quite an easy mechanism. Each three clicks will seed the same plant. The seedlings are similar but have differently shaped leaves.

I'd like to see more levels with a different seedling pattern. Of course, you'd probably want to have more hints as to what the pattern is in that case.

Yay! I beat it! Once I figured out what to do, it seemed easy enough. Nice puzzle game.

Pretty relaxing zen game.
Took a while to figure out how the seeds work and it was rewarding. After that it is all about lay-outing your garden.
The art is OK for the purpose.

Not sure I figured out how to garden well.. but I really like the pixel art flowers! This is very similar to my game SeedLife. Great minds think alike!

Some visual hint of where the active spots are would be a help, but maybe I'm missing the point. Wasn't sure how to "play", but it was enjoyable to tinker with for a while.

Thanks for the comments so far. I will try to make some of the proposed improvements for a post-compo version.
