The Chaos Sisters by dark_hunter

[raw]
made by dark_hunter for LD27 (JAM)
Requiers XNA 4.0 (Included in package) and support for resolution 1360x768.

Take control of the Chaos Sisters as they take their first quest to save the world!

Some balance issues and bugs were resolved making the ride more smooth.

Note: I didn't find the theme very interesting so I decided to go with a game I was thinking would be interesting.

Very interesting gameplay. The boardwalk concept is great. I like the turn per turn Final Fantasy like combat. Great work !

It hooked me from the start, very addicting and balanced gameplay. However, when the final boss killed one of the sisters, he recovered all the health, making it impossible to beat him.

Seriously, this game was awesome! I played it for.. well way too long, but eventually I beat it.
I really liked the idea of this "board game" or "slot machine" movement. The loot was great, especially the skills you could find. After I found a darkness skill with 170% damage I just steamrolled the mobs :P
It's a shame you didn't go with the theme though. Something as simple as giving the player 10 seconds max do decide what to do during combat, would at least have been a decent attempt. I think it's a bit sad you didn't go for the theme, even more so, since I personally think this is the best game I've played yet for this dare. But enough about the theme-

You did a heck of a job on this game in my opinion. I would love to see you expand on this idea :-) Great work!!!

I liked the idea of a rpg mixed with a board game.

Looks like we weren't the only ones to give turn-based a shot! I do like the mixed-genre approach. I look forward to seeing a further developed version down the road!

I freaked out when I saw the instructions page.

Nice try for LD though, it will make a good board game if you put in some other mechanics with it.

Rated lower than I would normally for an otherwise fantastic game because of the complete lack of the theme. At least try!

Interesting concept! I wouldn"t have thought of a mix between a board game (well it's not really a board game...) and a RPG. ^^

I liked the "RPG as a board game" mechanic. It was pretty fun, but it would have been to have even a tangential use of the theme.

I'm no fan of large resolutions because my monitor can only go to 1024x768. I can still play it, but the buttons are a bit of a pain to work with. (XNA-related issue I believe.)

Unfortunately, I'm having troubles seeing how this fit the 10 seconds theme. Unless the enemies attack every 10 seconds?

I think the board concept was interesting. Would have liked to see some more information about it though, like rolls for how far I'm moving and a map of where its heading. The attacks happening all at once made me initially confused, thinking that only one of my characters was actually attacking. I also struggled with the resolution as it led to part of it being off my screen so I was never able to change equipment on the second character. Interesting though, I can see this being very popular with some more tweaking.
