The Un-Named Game about Shape-Shifting by QualityCatGames
My first Ludum Dare!
//old
So far, I seem to be suffering from scope creep, combined with starting a few hours late, and then several more hours interruption by IRL obligations, so this might not get completed in time.
Anyways, after learning of the theme, I took a few minutes to come-up with a plan.
//end
There is one playable character, that can shape-shift between 5 forms. Each form has different abilities. When a form dies, you automatically shift to the next available one, and, it goes without saying what happens if there are NO forms left.
Many features and mechanics are not yet completed!
There are some pretty significant bugs, namely that the collision for the EnemyMouse object is awful. I disabled 2/3 of it, and the part that remains still doesn't work!
As for the fact this is not very high-quality at all, and contradicts my name/slogan, well, in most other cases, I do not allow such a poorly designed/developed thing to see the light of day. However, due to time constraints, multiple interruptions, and plenty of scope creep, I failed to complete this. I did as best as I can, and in the end, that's all that matters. I may or may not add to this at a later date, as it'd be col to see this as I had actually envisioned it.
NOTE:
The .json files for the web version don't like to re-cache.
This has been put into consideration for any future games of mine.
another update:
source now on github.
This is the version I will maintain the most, the original source.zip file might actually never see another update. The current version of the "extended" version contains some small bug fixes at the time of writing this (April 22, 2016)

I think you've realized most of the problems with your game already, based on what I read in your description. So I won't spend too much time talking about the bad. How about the good?
This is your first Ludum Dare, and you decided to tackle it with a custom-made HTML5 engine? That's awesome! There's also quite a bit to like about this game: you've got nice state switching, functional menus set up the game, graphics that communicate what's going on.
Glad you entered the Dare! Nobody said your first entry had to be perfect, and I assume you'll only get better for the next Dare!
My post-mortem has the good things... lol
There honestly weren't a lot that I observed.
Originally it was an"engine" I decided the term "library" or "framework" was more suited. And thanks (:
Oh, I tend to *menacingly wrings hands*
p.s.
I'm anything but depressed or discouraged from this. I am thrilled to improve upon this! I probably will try finishing it, but I need to set some serious time aside, and perhaps the assistance of a good pixel artist. There of course are all kinds of stuff I look forward to improving or changing with the library and other games made with it. I'm currently working on adding some more of those useful features to the library, and some extras.
p.p.s.
I should update the info on this thing...lol
@lanestp:
thx!
Eh, I got distracted... a lot...XD
Yep, more than I was expecting, I'll admit
@Gamepopper:
Thx.
Nothing fancy about the AI, really, just two randomizers...lol. But thx
