Crouch Up by Draft

Here it is. My very first project made with GoDot engine.

It is an endless runner game in which you have to change the shape of the player to go through different portals.

Four shapes are available. Switch between them using the key H,J,K and L.

During this Ludum Dare, I have focused on discovering Godot and finding the best progression of the difficulty.

Thank you for playing my game. I'd be happy to play yours too.

Don't hesitate to judge my work.

Ps: Sorry. The web export doesn't work. No idea why ...

A really well put together work.

HJKL is a slightly oddly position set of keys but add to the curve and once I got used to it, I was getting stuck in :)

Really great job on your first GoDot piece!

Thank you very much. I have chosen these keys as in vim (a text editor).

Very enjoyable! I spent some time on the game! The graphics are simple but nice! Great job!

Hard to remember which button is which, a permanent display could help, but might make the game too easy.

Nice little game you made here. I found out cycling through the keys helped me remind what key did what.

Couldn't get the game. The download is slow and failed two times in a row, so I'll try again later. What do you think about changing the host?

Sorry about that Griz. I'll see if I can move it.

Pretty nice! Can't make it past 15 though... At first I thought controller was supporter (because of the blob colours being the same as a 360 controller), would be easier with a pad!

Now the game is hosted at itch.io. The download speed is way much higher.

Would have loved if the blob actually changes to the forms it shows in the inside! As a first project in a new engine I think it looks polished, unfortunately theres no replayability. I actually also thought the pauses between the portals were too long.

Not bad for a first game, and I think I currently hold the publicly announced high score of 19!

Thank you. But actually the high score is now 25.

It plays otherwise well for me, but the console gives the following message each time I pass a pillar/checkpoint:

"ERROR: _set_owner_nocheck: Condition ' data.owner ' is true.
At: scene/main/node.cpp:1059"

Nothing serious or even in the way of the game. Just thought you might like to know.

(I'm currently using a Win 7 (x64) box.)

(Now that I'm commenting anyway; only max. 10 pt for me, but I do feel kinda bleary.)

The interface maybe should show always the controls. The game is pretty enjoyable so nice work.

A fun little game, I managed to get up to 14 :)
Might be good to add some more mechanics, maybe powerups or something, or maybe another kind of portal where it lets through all the colours except the one it shows (so opposite of the normal ones), as it gets a bit boring after a while.

Hard to remember those unconventional button mappings but otherwise fun!
