Multi-Persona Combat Robots Arena by Kalkatos

[raw]
made by Kalkatos for LD35 (COMPO)
It's a multiplayer game, so invite your friends to play with you!

Or drop me a line on Twitter at @kalkatos. I will join you if I happen to be having a break at work.

Instructions:

Right click: move
Left click: attack
Buttons 1, 2 and 3: change aspect of character.

Squary guy drops a box on the enemies.
Sphery guy rolls over enemies.
Spiky girl spins a saw at enemies.

Some considerations to be made:

I set myself the challenge to make a multiplayer game this LD, and I had a lot of fun doing it. I think it came pretty well considering the tremendous effort that is to make a mp game, even using Photon Unity Network. That said, it's still buggy and laggy, almost unplayable at this point, but I will try to fix some of the issues this week.

Any tips and feedback will be much appreciated. :) Thanks for playing!

Man the screenshots look so amazing! And I love the concept! Wish I could have gotten the client to run on Fedora 23.

Really, really good! The mechanics were nice and I had no lag. Moving and attacking felt responsive and three different forms were varied and felt different. Fancy graphics, more modes, and maybe a bit more zoomed out perspective might be things you could add if you are wanting to expand it.

I wasn't able to play with anyone else. Alone, it seems very responsive. Do you have any footage of a full match?

This seems so nice, and achieving this in compo is so good! But not fun to explore when alone.

Great job with the multiplayer aspect, and I think the different forms were pretty well balanced, with the square guy being the least used. The arena was completely empty, so some background changes to give sense of position would be nice, and perhaps walls. Maybe make the falling squares stay as walls. Despite that it was a pretty fun game.
