The Last Acorn by geoisgame

[raw]
made by geoisgame for LD28 (JAM)
What does a squirrel do with his last acorn?
(It's not you, the player, who only gets one.
Rather, it's the poor little squirrel who
only gets one shot at attaining anymore acorns
throughout its life.)

Like a lot of other games, time only permitted this much content, quality of artwork, lack of audio, etc. etc.
Pretty much a basic concept behind my game.
Complete or not, hope you enjoy your time rating!

NEWS: Everything is now in a nice executable jar!!! I'm so happy! ^^ Jarsplice is amazing!

NEWS: Untested Mac and Linux copies. For some reason the final jar sizes were smaller than the one for Windows, which makes me a bit worried.

Hi ! It seem there is an bug on the execution of your game, the jar start then close immediately. If it can help, I have windows 7 64bits Java(latest version) please let me know I would like to try your game :)

I have windows 8 and can't seem to get the game to load up either. I really like the art style though. Very unique.

It works for me. Running Windows 7 and Java version 7 update 40. Interesting concept :)

It is very hard to make that acorn go through that maze :) could evolve into a great game

I beat the sun! I mean I beat the acorn! I think? Anyhow. =P It was basic, as you say, but also fun enough to replay until I was victorious, and with probably the best story I've ever read about sun-worshiping squirrels.

Pretty fun but hard to control.

This was cool! My big complaint is probably that I didn't know where the sun was, so I was just bouncing about for a while before I stumbled onto it by luck. It might have been cool if you started with a super-zoomed out version that zoomed into your slingshot? I guess it depends on what you were going for.

The first few tries I thought I had to get it right with the original sling, so it was really hard. After that I realized how useful the arrow keys were and I made it by just bouncing a bunch, which was pretty enjoyable. Good job!

Simple game as you said. It was pretty nice to play it, but I'd rather like a twist in the gameplay, something new and challenging or unexpected :) that's what I'm looking for in LD games. Anyway, good job!

It seems pretty easy once you get to the first trampoline. You don't really need to restart. Had fun playing this one, thanks!

On OSX - a shame, as I'd love to play!

Interesting concept and pretty good physics, but the gameplay seemes overly difficult, especially since the player can't see most of the map and has such limited control over the acorn.

It was a while before I figured out that I needed to mash the arrows continuously instead of holding them down. Interesting take, one acorn to reach the sun. The gameplay need to be more precise and solid, though.

Cool idea and execution! But mechanics are very hard to get used to! Sometimes the acorn would just go right for no reason :P Nice job :)

If you have time please consider rating my game! I would really appreciate it :D
