YOGOTANK by CodingNickNick

[raw]
made by CodingNickNick for LD28 (JAM)
-- Intro
You're a tank in maze, stranded without bullets. Luckily, the enemy tanks also don't have bullets, but they did deploy mines. Doens't matter, because your tank is equipped with jumping... thingies... Anyhow, jump over the mines and the enemies and make it to the end of the maze (which will always be in the bottom right).

TLDR: Jump over mines and enemies and make it to the bottom right of the maze.

-- How to play
WASD for rolling your tank (sorry for all the people not having WASD in the same shape as the QWERTY-users).
Spacebar to jump

-- How to h4xx!
Check the game-resources/yogo/configuration.txt for some things you can tweak about the game. With a bit of luck they are adjusted in real time, but some variables take a restart.

-- I don't have windows! --
Linux: it works fine in wine! We developed this on Ubuntu 12.04LTS.
OSX: We also developed it under OSX, but we still can't create .app bundles, and fixing the shared-object linking by hand is really really tedious. Sorry.

Not really sure how it relates to the theme, but I found it surprisingly fun and the graphics look great :D

Really nice game, but the flickering of the light level really makes me a heddache and I don't understand, why this game is based on the theme.

Nice graphics and perspective, but a little unrelated to the theme.

Very fun game, jumping is confusing at first (have to be moving a bit to be able to jump), but I figured it out!

Overall, this game is fairly good, but I couldn't see myself playing for more than a few minutes at a time.

With regards to gameplay, not very interesting. Just a generic maze with a few obstacles placed in the way. The camera is jittery when transitioning from a stopped state to a moving state which was distracting. Also, jumping was unreliable in this transition as well.

The graphics were gorgeous and the audio was pretty good as well. It seems like there wasn't enough focus on the gameplay, however. Graphics, audio, story, et cetera are all important aspects, but I feel they shouldn't be the main focus of a game; that's left up to the gameplay.

Sometimes it's easy to lose sight of this, so try and focus on making the game fun to play next time and then polish the visuals if time permits. Keep on practicing, having fun, and do an even better job next time!

This is a pretty funny one - jumping tank, tanks that can't shoot, whacky physics - and it has nice presentation too.
