Round toe by Thecoolestnerdguys

[raw]
made by Thecoolestnerdguys for LD28 (JAM)
My first LD entry!
A tic-tac-toe clone (kind of), except that you only get O's, so, you have to memorize where you placed your stuff.

Features:

* Beautifully crappy AI!
* Circles!
* No violence!
* Relaxing background music!
* Black background (energy saver!).
* 2 player mode!
* Sinewave movements!
* 3 colors graphics!
* made in 7 hours!

EDIT: For some reason, it doesn't seems to work on Firefox. Should work on Webkit browsers(Chrome, Opera, Safari) tho.

The GUI controls are hard to use. When I click one player, it registers as placing a circle down. And when I win, the screen flashes "You win" then back the the starting menu. Also the AI seems to always make the same choices and doesn't even try to stop me from winning. But anyway, interesting spin on the tictactoe game.

Had some GUI problems as well, but I like the idea!

Hmmm.. I cannot click on the "One Player" or "Two player" buttons in FF 26 (works in Chrome).

Very nice minimal game :)

Interesting idea, but as others said clicking one player places your first circle. So you've not got many options!

Nice and chilled out gaming, quite enjoyable as a tic-tac-toe clone. One small note, you might need to set the mouse.down event to false after the player clicks to start the game, every time I already had a piece placed if you get my meaning. Good work!

Music looks nice, but i agree to others about clicking 1 player. It plays your first circle there every time and that's little frustrating.

@Pickle: Hey, thanks for playing! I've just fixed that annoying bug! Yeah, the AI is pretty dumb, really.

@jsjwooowooo: I've fixed that GUI bug you guys mentioned! Thanks!

@TheSnide: Yeah, it doesn't seems to work on FF for some reason. I'll see if I can fix that...

@Lyje: Thanks man! I've fixed that.

@lasagnegames: Thanks for poiting the solution out! I've totally spaced on that...

Interesting idea. The memory aspect reminded me of the game Gobblet.

@jdpalmer: Thanks! I've never heard of that game. I'll take a look into that...

@Nikteddy92: What do you mean???

Funny idea. I didn't thought that any innovation was possible while keeping the tic-tac-toe rules. Next step: invisible moves!

Tic tac toe is a classic game. And the two players have the same item. However your IA is excellent! And the graphic design is good.

The AI could obviously use some improvement, but overall, a nice take on tic tac toe.

@Alink: Thanks! Yeah, I might include that in a post-compo version...

@van noctar: Thanks! Oh, BTW, the two players are intended to have the same item, I don't know if you get it XD

@sknoslo: Thanks! Yeah, the AI is indeed stupid.

Wow, you really made this in 72h? I'm impressed

@jacklehamster Really?! Well, guess what, I actually made this in under 7 hours. I spent all the rest of the 72h having bad game ideas and trashing them.

I really like your take on the theme, it definitely gives a unique feel to tic-tac-toe. I think you should develop this further and maybe do something similar to other games (Go, Connect 4, Checkers, etc...)

I got excited for a second when I saw the Conway's Game of Life "glider" in your screen shot, but it's just obfuscated tictactoe where the board state is misleadingly ambiguous? I think I'll pass.
