The Incredibly Silly Adventures of Jake the Gerbil by kalth.streil
,-------------------------------------------------------------------------_
TL;DR: Small platformer with a tutorial plus arenas. Use the Windows/Mac OS version to fully appreciate the graphics please!
Controls are as follows:
-----------------------
Arrow Keys / AWSD to move, F to drop vertically as a rock (damage) or G to use spikes (low duration attack), SPACE to jump (need to be touching a platform), SPACE while floating to glide (can be deactivated with SPACE, F or G).

Lore explanation:
-----------------
With one of the longest names ever to faze our minds, ISAJG is the story of a small furry creature who longs for cheese, coffee and feeling like superman while it flies away attached to its kite.
Of course, that wouldn't make for much of a game, so we decided to include evil snakes and lazy blue hedgehogs (no pun intended, Sonic!) which you must slaughter to no end in order to advance in your career as a Gerbil Gladiator.
The arena is a cruel mistress, and so you have several skills at your disposal:
WHEEL: Simple yet effective method of transport. Turn that rotation into linear velocity! (Default movement)
SPIKES: Now this is what makes the wheel awesome: Press G for spikes. As simple as that. SPIKES. ON. YOUR. WHEEL. WHEEE!
ROCK: Invoke the ancient power of Ratvel the Rock, legendary warrior, to crush your foes! Just press F and watch them squat like flies. Poof, gone!*
KITE: Superman? Who's dat? You're SuperRODENT! Just press SPACE while jumping and boy, can you maneuver with UP and DOWN to get the best mileage of what is the closest to flying a rodent can ever hope to achieve!
SPRING: Not the season, but the instrument! Coil your rage and unleash it into a fiery jump which you can follow up with a lovely glide with yet another SPACE keystroke. The possibilites are endless!
POWER-UPs: From time to time you may encounter the following items...
----------
CHEESE: Does it need description? It's cheese! Healthy!
SPIKES: SPIKES! UNLIMITED! FOR LIKE 10s! RUUUUUUUN!
HOLY GRENADE: Ever saw the Monty Python and the Holy Grail? Well, rodents have evolved since and we learnt the masteries of the Holy Grenade that once defeat our Lord Bunny! Boom go your enemies!
*May or may not apply to blue hedgehogs!

Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description
Also thanks for the feedback ZirconCode! I tried playing yours but Java Security is being a partypooper :< I'll try it again later!
*Browser-based errors!
I enjoyed the main character. It was adorable. Varying Blade rotation as you speed up was a nice touch. Gaining speed and killing snakes was fun.
I didn't use kite that much. The same goes for spacebar in ball-mode.
In last level there is a platform in right top screen that is outside of playable area.
Font was difficult to read and discouraged me from reading. Same goes for power-up icons. I couldn't tell what they were representing.
Overall: Not the best ever entry but it provided me with some fun. I don't regret playing it.
About the font... sorry! I actually created that hideous font in like 10 mins haha. Tried to fit M and W in an old-school style while keeping it 4 pixels wide and that created way too much confusion.
About the power-ups: you can get cheese (HP+1), spikes (10s temporary spikes) or an explosion. I'm sorry the audio feedback didn't make the final game, since we already had the sounds. Alas, level-design was a priority over it.
As for the platforms outside the playable area, the game procedurally pops platforms in the viewable area. Since making the areas too simple was boring, some compromises had to be taken, and so sometimes platforms pop outside your reach. Oops!
PS: Kite / Spring I mostly use to get to the top platforms myself!
Just a little tip: no need for those .pdb files in public downloads, they are for debugging and make the download quite a lot larger. ;)
1-The first snake can be killed easily by using G and running over them.
2-The snake corridor can be obliterated with the coffee power-up (alternatively just run them over carefully).
3-The Spikey section needs gliding: just go slow, use space and then maneuver with W and D.
It shouldn't be too problematic! It's only there so that you are ready to deal with the arenas (which have high platforms and multiple spawns).
Sadly, the 'press space while on the air to pop the kite' message was too long and obtuse, so it seems most people had issues with the spikes. Oops!
