An Ashwick Winter by killerstarbunny

made by killerstarbunny for LD28 (JAM)
An Ashwick Winter is about making choices so that your family doesn't get really depressed and die.

I did the programming and the song (with abundant-music.com) and MuffinHat did the art. This is my best entry out all I've done on LD and this version is only 2/3 complete. We will be making it into a full game with ZestyPro and that will pop up on tig in the near future. Unfortunately this game has a serious problem with text fitting in the screen so the text moves away from the screen a little. Sorry about that. The way that it is connected to the theme is you can only make one choice per day.

I submitted some bug fixed version so please check those out. All of those "hang times" are fixed in the update version. So please look at that. The final version will have more emotion but the fixed version is decent.

Ending is still bugged.

Felt like there was too much "hang time" of nothing in between each decision. The music is good and the art is passable. The font chosen is kind of hard to read, and I would have liked a bit more emotional context for making the decisions - I don't know anything about the son, the daughter, the wife, etc.

That said, it's a solid start!

Looks like there were a few transitions missing after making choices (in the Web version. Only got black screens before being presented another choice.)
Sill, cool idea for the theme and great mood achieved by the look a music!

Takes a bit too long in between scenes - having long periods of black screen loses my attention as a player.

The choice of music is good.

Epic and chilling!
The day after my mother in law gets sick the game returns to "live in a house or apartment" with no options. I really hope to play it again when I can get to the ending!
Full marks for mood! :)

It took a bit of a long time to load between choices, but I really like the game over all
I included it in my Ludum Dare compilation video series, if you'd like to take a look :) http://youtu.be/Sii3dnpSvEI

I got to Day 10 but because of the window size I chose to play in, I could not proceed further because both options were out of frame. What a depressing and woeful game...
