The Man who Never Came Back by narsil

[raw]
made by narsil for LD28 (COMPO)
This is my first time participating in a Ludum Dare and I must say it was a lot of fun!

My game, however, is unfortunately not completely finished, mainly because I started far to late to add playable content and since the writing of the game engine took a lot of time (especially the buggy and badly implemented slopes).

The idea of the game were to follow a man who just lost something he only got one of, his family. Each level would've linked to a season and the completion of each level would've help the man sort his memories of his family and deal with his loss. The title "The Man who Never Came Back" alludes to the mans journey, and his change of life perspective. That is, how he changed when his family died.

All in all, I look forward to future Ludum Dares and that I will have more time for content generation and that I will complete an entire game!

Pretty nice art with what you got done! The running animation is pretty nice, and the platforming controls are pretty good too.

The second time I jumped, the poor man got stuck in the ceiling :(. Resetted and it didn't happen again.
It's a shame you didn't finish it, the controls were good, and the walking animation and the cutscenes were pretty well done. Good job on your first LD!

Although unfinished, I think the last level fits well with being the way it is. However, the game does feel quite lacking...

I wish there was more levels there but the art, animation, music, and cutscenes were all done well. You're bringing it way back there starting me at the beginning of the level for every mistake :p

The ending, although clearly not done, is actually great. The way the music stopped and then there was just nothing there. I approve.
